Yes, I'm back from the dead. GIVE ME YOUR SPINES!

Anyhow, things have become quite different these days. I got married on March 2nd to my Allykins, and we're gonna have a baby in late June.

God, how long has it been? A year? Shit.

I suck.

Mrrrrfff...

mood: bouncy bouncy

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, my computer monitor is incredibly blurry and it's really hard to sit in front of it for too long before my head starts to really hurt.

Updates:

My job goes well, i'm getting more hours and am beginning to become indispensible. It's really good to know that you're an intricate part of the machine.... maybe now I can ask for a raise.
The world outside work is also going well. Are you ready for this?

My Ally got me a Wii! How sweet is that. Now I just gotta pay her back and everything's golden.

My insurance rates went down again (score) and I can finally begin to breathe easier when it comes to money.

Financial Aid dragged their heels for as far as they could, so I'm probably not going to get my first disbursement check for a while, but I think I may be almost done with classes. My next two after this set are both the IT Core classes. They're not going to be easy, considering that one is Java Programming (ugh). But, I think these may be my last ones, which means that I'm so close to my AA that I can taste it.

Let's see, any other news? Not really.

Here's hoping that tonight I win the lottery so's I can pay off my credit card and get a new car, because my current one is starting to do that weird thing where it stalls out when it's idle and I have to restart it once in a while.

See you when I get a new monitor, I'm off to go get some ibuprofen!

They'll be short, but sweet. I'm rating the fake trailers by two things: How entertaining they were, and how much they made me excited to see the movies they're "previewing"
THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD MATEY! )

I am returned.

mood: cheerful cheerful

As I return, I am renewed. I've got work this week... My paper on Santeria is due next week, and the rough draft has to be done this week.

Fun fun town is here today!

Let's see, the trip was fantabulous, as usual. Good food, good times, excellent company as always.

I've got new musics on tap, I've got new energy, and I'm ready to take on anything life throws at me. I'm sick of being afraid of not being able to pay bills anymore, so I'm gonna take the proactive approach and ask the boss peoples to review my record and ask for a raise.

Here are my rules for living on April 1st, and no this isn't some pre-emptive joke.

Rule #1: My phone is turned off, and stays turned off all day. No exceptions.
Rule #2: I do not check my email, nor do I log on to the internet in any way (Online gaming is an exception)
Rule #3: I don't watch TV, nor do I hang out with friends.

It is my one day to stay home and be an isolationist fucker. I've been burned too many times by unfunny pranks and lame-ass attempts at humor to even find the idea of the holiday remotely redeemable.

So, April 1st, I drop off the grid. It may seem reactionary and knee-jerk, but that's how it is.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Well, my monitor finally kicked the old bucket...

It's been making noise for about two weeks now and it finally burned itself out last night, so I had to downgrade from a 19" to a 17" and you don't really appreciate the amount of real estate you have until its gone. But anyhow, no sense in complaining.

I'm going to my sisters this weekend, so I'm sitting down and doing all of my class work today just so I don't have to do a paper while i'm supposedly on some form of vacation.

Oh, and God of War II is cool. It's not bombastically amazing, since what was in the first game is a good indicator of the second, but it's beautiful and it's fun. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap on the other hand is absolutely fantabulous.

Viacom did it again.

Not that this is new to the media giant. It's stepped in its own mess several times in the past, but for some reason avoid too much rancor.

Back in the mid-90s, Viacom went around shutting down Star Trek fansites en masse because of perceived copyright infringement. The issue was that apparently one website had posted copyrighted material without giving due credit and attempted to make money off of the Trek phenomenon with their site. Viacom, owner of Paramount Pictures (the studio that produced much of Trek), sued for infringement and won. They then took that victory and used it as a baseball bat to smash any fansite they came across, even ones that posted full copyright and trademark credits to Paramount and were just simple sites saying "I love Trek." They did this because they saw the sites as attempts by fans to make illegal money, so they lost their damn minds and ignored Fair Use.

That earned Viacom the hatred of many Star Trek fans, but not many others. Apparently no one cares about the nerd-contingent.

Now we've got this nonsense with Viacom suing YouTube for apparently allowing people to upload videos that may or may not be their copyright. This comes after Viacom ordered 100,000+ videos of "their" product to be removed from the site. Here's the clincher: YouTube COMPLIED. They did what they were asked to do and removed the offending videos. Even videos that had nothing to do with Viacom directly or indirectly.

Viacom is suing YouTube because they got free publicity for their programs and people wanted to keep watching their favorite Daily Show moments without having to log into Comedy Central's site and wait for that piece of shit applet to load and then play the damn video.

Boo-Hoo, Viacom didn't lose a damn cent, but they didn't post the videos so YouTube has to pay.

Isn't that like demanding a refund from the ticket agent for a free concert that you didn't like?

I said it ten years ago, and I'll say it again: Fuck you, Viacom. I hope your company gets bought out by Google.

I think I know who I'm voting for...

http://www.columbiachronicle.com/paper/arts.php?id=3525

This guy is running on the Vampire, Witches, and Pagan Party ticket, and he apparently wants to impale Dubya and eat his blood to gain his power.

From the article:
"But Sharkey maintains his statements are legal, emphasizing he will only impale Bush once he’s elected president. Sharkey consulted Sheldon Kay, a lawyer and host of a Michigan radio show known as “The Rock and Roll Lawyer Show.” Sharkey spoke on the radio program in November 2006,when Kay allegedly told Sharkey the wording of his threat to Bush was legal. But not everyone agrees with Kay’s advice."

I love this, plus the fact that this Jonathon “The Impaler” Sharkey guy looks like Steven Segal.

Well, it's been a while since I updated, and i figured i'd wrap up an update alongside a Happy V-Day to those of you in relationships and a Happy St. Guinness Day to everyone who despises this holday with every fiber of their being. Don't forget, at midnight tonight all of the valentine's candy instantly goes on sale, so stock up!

Alright, an update, recently finished my second IT class and my third English class, so I'm happy to be done with that. I'm now in Religions of the World alongside Basic Mathematics. Why basic math? I only needed one math credit and I figured why stress myself?

Let's see here... I'm in the process (slowly) of getting a new job that actually pays me a decent wage so, not only can I pay my bills, but I can get a new car. I'm sick of mine leaking all of the time.

Well, that's it, I leave you with my favorite episode of Sealab 2021
