08:07 pm - Adventures in Traveling
So before I post about the actual week of vacation, I'm going to go ahead and write about my exciting adventure flying home. Besides, I haven't uploaded my 200 mb of photos yet and I'm posting at work (shhh!)

This is a REALLY Long entry...

11:48 am - Home Sweet Home
First off:

CONGRATULATIONS BECCA AND DAVID!!!!

and

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANA!!!

So I've missed quite a bit email-wise and LJ-wise and all that jazz and holy crap it's a bitch to catch up! That's it, I'm getting me a Blackberry Curve. I can't do w/o my damn internet. And the moment I have that said phone in my hands I will officially be a tool of the internet (like I'm not already =P) but hey, at least I'm not another kind of tool *cough*

Quick summary because I have a nice long story about my wonderful (note the sarcasm) adventure coming back home that was so bad I bought myself a drink en route...:

Overall it was a GREAT trip. A bit exhausting and ridiculously HOT, slightly pricey, but really good. It was so nice to be with 204 again even if it wasn't the entire crew it was the main crew. BEST was complete for a few days and it was almost like old times again. The wedding was beautiful and Becca was such a beautiful bride! Lots of sweaty dancing and cuteness and traditions and a little fainting here and there, lol. In a way I think Sarah's little incident was almost a good thing in that it makes us more aware and prepared for her wedding. A bridesmaid fainting is one thing - the bride? Yeah can't let that happen. New York was fun and because Mike was a super tourist (he'd never been to NY while Emie and I had so we were a lesser level of tourist) we saw things like Times Square, Empire STate building (but with low visibility), Central Park, Rockefeller Center.... stupid Nintendo World Store was closed though, and then the awesome fireworks! Thanks to Yvonne, a friend I've known since 4th grade, we got to watch 4th of July fireworks from a great spot! (more on this later)

When I was trying to get home things got a little, er, difficult. But in some ways it worked out pretty well - met some nice people and also sat next to a couple who live in the same building as us. How random is that?! But that's for another post. I may or may not post pics here in LJ but I'll definitely try to upload in photobucket. And btw... MIKE SENDME PHOTOS!!!!

11:36 pm - I'm leaving on a jet plane...
in less than 7 hrs... flight is at 6am. YEA!

Anyway I'm going to be gone all week. I'm off to NY for some pre-wedding fun w/ Becca and the girls of BEST and then off to New Jersey for the wedding itself! Then back to NY for 4th of July, back to NJ and then finally home... yeah lots of traveling and craziness!

General outline:

Monday: travel for 11+ hrs because I have TWO layovers which are 1.5-2 hrs each. Yeah...it's gonna SUCK. So I leave 6am here and get there 8:30pm. I'm going to see my aunt and stay there with her that night.

Tuesday - I get to go on a hunt for Jeff's/Sarah's place around 8am to drop off luggage then I get to go on another hunt and find my friend whom I've known since 4th grade! I am TOTALLY going to get lost while dragging around a huge suitcase too >_< I need a GPS...Later in the evening will be some fun bachelorette stuff - or that's the plan anyway. We really haven't actually talked about what we're doing but I'm guessing it'll be hitting the town and having a girl's night out essentially. None of us are heavy drinkers really so we'll see how it all goes =P

Weds: heading over to NJ in the morning and then...um not really sure actually. I know in teh evening there will be more girl-stuff as we try to figure out what the hell we're doing with our hair since the lady doing our makeup (Becca's covering makeup costs because she's awesome like that) is asking for $75 per person. Um...NO thank you. So yeah it'll be a very girl night... poor Mike ^^; Also probably lots of going over what's going on at the wedding. Never been part of a full-blown Jewish wedidng so it'll be interesting and fun.

Thurs: The WEDDING!! WOO!

Friday: 4th of July fun in NY!

Sat: Finally going home! And only one layover! I'm really excited about that.

Oh and another wonderful thing about all my flights except 1 - I'm all the way in the back. In one case I'm literally the last seat. So uh...yeah. Nice thing is honestly I won't be in a rush to get off or on the plane because of all the layovers and such.

Ok I'm off for a nap! Wish me luck getting through these flights and getting around NY!

05:18 pm - My first few days on the job
Sooo I've got quite a bit of good and "eh" news to share.

1) If you've read my previous entry (which it seems like you guys have) then you all know I GOT A JOB!! WOO! Only getting $11/hr right now as a trial until my 60day review...(More on this later- probably under a friends-only entry as my boss has my card which has my dA site which has a link to this site not that they're likely to read it but you know... >_>)

2) DAN'S GOT A JOB!!! He's going to start at Matheny Sears in about 2 weeks (he has to finish up his 2 contract jobs this week first). Originally he wasn't going to go to Becca's wedding due to financial issues we've been having but now that he's got a job secured it was a tempting idea but said job starts the week of Becca's wedding >_< (not to mention I already told Becca he wasn't coming =P) We actually were really productive and bought him a nice suit today for 1/2 off at Macy's!

3) I think I'm finally getting sick... I'm kinda getting a sore throat but I do think it's a combination of things like never recovering from Fanime, was out in the cold for an hour and a half waiting for a SUPER LATE Amtrak train a few days ago, going in and out of hot and cold thanks to ridiculously hot weather here (it's prepping me for NY I guess), and not getting much sleep earlier this week. I really CAN'T get sick for multiple reasons but in a way I am due - I've been remarkably healthy for the past few months...

4) Finally got to see Andrew play again! I miss watching him play and I liked his band - good music! But really my favorite is Weepel but I'm biased XD

5) We finally have a PS2! Yea! Yes this is very exciting because before all we had was my super old PS 1 from when I was in high school and Dan's XBox. We upgraded a bit with my DS Lite but yeah... finally we have a PS2 so Dan's been playing Resident Evil 4 as of late. It's his first ever Resident Evil so it's an interesting experience. XD

6) In case you didn't know driving even 10 mins in this terrible muggy heat in Sac w/o any AC SUCKS LIKE CRAZY. I sweat so much in just those 10 mins to work or back home. UGH.

7) Cell Phones

11:42 am - Cross your Fingers!!!
Ok so I've had my third "interview" for this one Chiropractic office here in Sac (really close to where I live and Sac City so it's a great location).

First interview was that scary one where it was in a group and I was SERIOUSLY under qualified. The people in this office had years upon years of experience working as receptionists/office assistants and were very accustomed to the fast paced life and doing all that jazz. And so of course when it was my turn to speak and I had barely anything to offer I totally felt like I didn't belong there and I should have just walked out.

...well I got called back for a 2nd interview later that week and it went relatively well... I felt very comfortable talking to everyone and all that... HOWEVER, I had to do long division by hand (such a nightmare! I <3 my graphing calc!!!) Oh and let's not forget the typing test: on a TYPEWRITER w/o white out which HATED me. REALLY Hated me. I pride myself in being a good, fast typist but that thing just ruined it for me. OY. But at the end of it, the hiring consultant pointed out that I made and sold cards and all of a sudden, my cards (my Father's Day and Graduation Cards) were out on display on the counter for everyone to see and... well THAT was embarrassing but flattering too. Stephanie, the hiring consultant, was trying to help sell my cards!! It was awesome - I totally liked the dynamic of the people there (it's a private practice and the Dr's wife has been the receptionist/assistant for 6 years so very much a family run business).

That was all last week. Yesterday I get a call and I was asked to come this morning to observe so I can see how things work with the patients. This way both the Dr and his wife got a feel for me and I got a feel for the whole thing. I don't really want to go into detail (you wouldn't want me to anyway; and I'm running on practically no sleep - seriously), but I did really like them and the atmosphere. It's a hard job - very fast paced, very demanding, and it's from 8:30-6:30 everyday but I think that if I can handle it wouldn't mind being there and it would be good experience either way.

I got quite an ego boost today too; the Dr. kept talking about my smile, and apparently I struck him as intelligent at the interview (oh man I really hope I don't let him down too hard down the road!) but he was worried I was too quiet. But I think that I was pleasant enough in the morning, and what not and his wife said she really liked my personality and really liked working with me... and yeah the compliments kept coming so I'm kind of on a high despite my exhaustion. Haha.

SO, I need you guys to cross everything you can and hope that I land this thing because it sounds fairly ideal except for a few things here and there (still don't know how much I'm getting paid but I did say I wanted no less than $10- hopefully I'll get more). I'm not a great believer in Chiropractic medicine (shhhh! I didn't say that!) but I do think that it can work for some people and the Dr and his wife really do care about the patients and that matters a lot to me. And I think it's a good foot in the door to medicine (not quite the same medicine I'm interested in but it's something...) and I do more than receptionist duties; I also help put the patients on therapy which is nice and hands on.

Ok less jabbering and more crossing of fingers and limbs!! ^_^ I'm totally ready to crash now!

EDIT: I Got the JOB!!! I start next Wednesday! Being the dork that I am, I was so excited I forgot how much I will be getting paid... ^^; oops But I'll be happy with 10-12 starting. And they're accepting the fact that I'll be gone for Becca's wedding which I was concerned about too... ^________________^

06:54 pm - Belated Birthday Photos & Job Hunting Woes
So here's a quick bday bash recap. No real details but LOTS of photos. For MORE photos go to the Photobucket link below. Seriously there are a lot.

Photos here BDAY PICS!

LOTS of Random Photos )

Belated Thank You to everyone who made it and I hope you all had fun! The pics made it look like you did =P It was an interesting mix of people - where there was no real minority; good mix of asians and non-asians through the night, straight and gay. Although Mike's the only Mexican XD. And I suppose Julia and I were a minority -I just don't know enough girls! I feel bad I wasn't able to really mingle with everyone but I know some of you were able to keep yourself well enough entertained ^.~ Sorry there was no alcohol either >_<

Btw as for presents I don't have pics of it up yet but Julia was kind enough to give me a set of handpainted Salt and Pepper shakers- fairly large sized I must say. They're like 6" tall and.... in the shape of very erect penises. Classic. Pics one day...

And my other really interesting present was this bag:

Go here for the site: SF Bags
It's all made in SF and what not so that was cool. My bag is the Large Cargo Bag with a Cardinal Leather Strap and with aLuminum Airport Buckle.

Yes my friends it's leather, it's red, and it's got a real airplane seatbelt buckle and it is AWESOME. You have to see it in person - SO much fun to play with! Heavy duty, very nice, and VERY Expensive. This baby is like $243 w/o shipping/tax. I got it from my sister's friend and neighbor Chiati who owns one (the Lead Indium flap version which is also really shmancy). He really liked it so he bought like 6 extra for random gift giving. Best Random Gift EVAR. I probably can't even afford to buy their accessory bags/cases!

So Job Woes... wow I really hate looking for a job. I really don't like cover letters and I really don't like group interviews. I went to one today for a Chiropractic office assistant position... There were 14 of us; 1 Indian guy who will not be hired solely because he's a guy and unfortunately office assistant/receptionists are just normally girls. Most were my age a few who were a little older ... And holy crap was I under qualified! We all had to go around talking about job experiences and while I was 1 of 2 who mentioned graduating from a college everyone had been working as a serious admin for 2-6 yrs at LEAST in serious jobs. I sat there going "fuck me" throughout the thing. So yeah it was no good...no good at all. i really need to get more experience but it's hard to do that when people want experience to begin with! GAAAH! Fortunately it's not a job I think would work for me anyway but it would have been nice. Being in a room full of highly qualified people = utter Fail...

I have an appointment to go to Rancho Cordova to see a temp agency on Friday - hopefully something works out. Have to check out other agencies as well. I think they're my best bet at this point which is not a great position to be in *sigh*

In other news, while Dan has his 2 contract jobs we're still really poor especially since I have no income now and as a result he isn't coming w/ me to Becca's wedding. *sigh* Poopiness.

08:04 pm - Father's Day and Graduation Cards
So for all of you who haven't gotten your Father's Day and Graduation Cards already, here are some handmade ones for sale! Some of them are from a few years ago but still look relatively cute but I do have some new ones as well!

Most cards are 4.25" x 5.5" on white cardstock. They can either come in a regular envelope OR a clear one (which I think is nicer since you can display the card and it is USPS certified so it's mailable...) - please specify which you would prefer.

I can either mail it this week to you for 80cents extra OR meet with you somewhere in Davis on Friday (either lunchtime or dinnertime - not sure when I will be passing through yet) or possibly Sunday (most likely late late evening) I may or may not also be in Davis Tuesday June 10th for $4 Movie night =P

You can either leave a comment or email me at katrinas.kards.ink@gmail.com

06:31 am - Chroncles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Quick review - if even that...

It's a long movie - 2hrs 20mins I believe so be ready for it if you're not already. I did like it better than the first but that's in part because I think I liked this book best of all... but I need to read it again since I want to recheck what was changed in the movie...

Anyway it's a good movie so go watch it. Acting was good; Georgie Henley (Lucy) still cute despite being a bit older and Anna Poppelwell (Susan) gets some butt kicking as this is a more action-oriented movie. I feel like they could have done more with Skandar Keynes (Edmund); felt he was a bit underused this time around. He does a good job being a good brother now as opposed to being that brat in the first one (although he was good at that too). I can't really say William Moseley (Peter) had a huge improvement but still decent. Ben Barnes (Caspian) was good - he was the young Dunstan Thorn in Stardust FYI. The side characters were good. Trumpkin (Peter Dinklage!) and Reepicheep (Eddie Izzard!) were my faves.

Be prepared for
1) some abuse of slow-motion scenes during fight sequences and of flying arrows (damn you Matrix & Wachowski Bros! *shaking fist of fury*)
2) Almost no originality from Harry Gregson Williams in this score. I mean sure there were some original tracks but man, talk about copy and paste. I did like the themes he brought back but couldn't he have brought something NEW to this? (he voiced one of the characters in the movie; kinda funny)
3) No Tumnus (he was awesome and he was done by James McAvoy!)
4) White Queen wasn't the main villain - she was a good, evil villain- I don't think they ever get another good villain like her in the series...

There's more to be said I'm sure but I wasn't even going to write this much but Mike requested some sort of post on the movie. (don't you feel so special Mike? Well you better!)

By the way we had kind of a sucky experience toward the end. Decent audience but halfway through the main battle we lost picture and sound. Now usually I can watch a 3-4 hour movie and not have any urge to pee but for whatever reason I really really had to pee throughout like...half of this movie or something. But I kept telling myself we were getting close to the end especially w/ the battle and all but then the screen dies!!! W.T.F. I was afraid to leave (cause you know it'd start just as I left) but fortunately a staff member came in and told us it'd be a few minutes so I (along w/ some other girls) made a beeline for the bathroom. First thing that the girls talked about? How hot Prince Caspian was. Cracked me up. To worsen the suckiness of having the film stop in a crucial point, we waited 5-10 mins for it to restart (it's already like 2am to boot) and when it started it was like 5 mins AFTER where we left off thus missing a crucial scene!! Dan and I went and got free movie passes as a result.

Ok bed time. Now go watch the movie! It's cute, it's funny, kinda corney, and silly, and dark, actiony and just good. Definitely going to have to watch it again and see how a second (uninterrupted) viewing goes. Dan probably won't go with me who wants to be my date? Catch - you have to drive here XD

And friggin' A this weather is too friggin' HOT! I'm so glad I'm done w/ a majority of my driving till I get a more stable job for summer since I have NO AC in my car....

03:09 pm - Mother's Day Cards & Tegan and Sara Concert
EDIT: Links Fixed!!

So I'm done with most of the Mothe'rs Day Cards designs - too busy now to make other ones.

Here's a rough idea of what I've got:

You can either see the cards at my deviantArt gallery: HERE
(they're in the gallery)

Or at my Etsy site: HERE

There are only 4 designs up right now since I'm really busy (and I'd like to save some of my creativity for my own cards) but remember that if you see any design on my sites that you like, I can almost always easily turn them in a Mother's Day Card as well.

If you want to buy anything, contact me at katrinas.kards.ink@gmail.com - don't get anything off etsy (it's mostly just for show anyway =P)

Shipping: $0.80 for shipping/handling (I do combine shipping)
And I'm asking people to pay the paypal fees - sorry but I'm not earning very much as it is, I can't really afford to have paypal eat into the little profits. So another option is money order or check or cash at your own risk.

You're all my friends so if anyone wants to pay by more snail-mail methods then just let me know; I'll send out the card even if payment hasn't gotten here yet.

Btw last night Dan and I went to the Tegan and Sara concert @ Freeborn. It was pretty nice. Their opening band, An Horse, (can someone tell me if that means anything? so bizarre) was pretty fun. It was a 2-man band made up of a girl singer/guitarist and male drummer who reminded me of Andrew, whose drumming I miss watching. ^_^ Anyway they have a myspace where you can listen to their songs: HERE because who doesn't have myspace now?
Unfortunately most of their music sounds the same because the girl doesn't do much else on the guitar and doesn't sing very diffrently. Drummer was pretty awesome though.

Anyway the concert overall was fun and I enjoyed it. Back was killing me all the way through but it was still good. The music was good - they sound very good live. I love the way they harmonize! And I LOVED their talks in between songs. They were so funny and honest and silly. The stories were so silly and it was cute how the sisters played off each other. ^_^

Oh btw I painted a cabinet I got from Dan's parents. It was kind of an ugly blue before but I painted it balck and red. The cabinet is black and the designs are red - I went with sakura and swirls because I figured those are easy enough... but that was BEFORE I started painting and um... yeah. I've never painted beore so this was an interesting experience... The pictures aren't great since they've been resized but they make the cabinet look better than it actually is haha. You can't the crappy paint job as well =P

Front of Cabinet
Inside of Cabinet
I didn't really paint much inside anymore because I just got tired >_

02:08 pm - Avatar fanart and season 3 video clips and stuffs
For those of you who haven't already seen it, I've finished coloring my Zutara fanart - not the comic yet though. I have two versions because, as always, I can't make up my mind. I also did a pretty decent GW fanart in class.

Zutara lineart in case you guys have forgotten =P HERE

Zutara colored vers. 1 HERE

Zutara colored vers 2 (this is the most popular) HERE

And since I'm on a Gundam Wing kick here's a doodle I did in my Anatomy class a few nights ago: Trowa & Kaylin If you have dA you have to sign in to see it because it's under the "mature" filter. Nothing's happening! But...yeah >_>

Avatar Season 3 news
So while we all thought Avatar would be aired in April, it's not meant to be because Nickelodeon is LAME and STOOPID. Even one of Avatar's episode directors is frustrated w/ Nickelodeon! Just read his dA journal!!! HERE

So yeah... stupid Nick. Anyway until then here are links to the trailer from the New York Comic Con as well as clips from "The Boiling Rock" and the start of Ember Island Players and some small screencaps of the trailer.

Avatar S3 Trailer HERE
The Boiling Rock HERE
Start of "the Ember Island Players" HERE

Also here are some screencaps of the videos 1 2 3

03:08 pm - GW Rant and miscellaneous things
Do you guys remember, oh so long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was that silly silly anime called Gundam Wing? Well as I was trying to re-organize and clean up my room (read= make a huge mess) to make room for a cabinet I'm putting in I found this old story I was writing that was a clear rip-off of GW only with different spins on things and what not. Anyway it was...amusing to read it (wrote it in early high school I think) and it put me in this groove of finding more GW stuff. Now I have to say, Trowa has become my bishie of choice for the show but honestly I couldn't really tell you why. I like Duo's personality the best and at first I thought I liked Heero... but eventually I've come to rest on Trowa. Wufei, while quite an ass-kicker, doesn't do it for me and I honestly I don't like Quatre all that much. I can't say I hate him exactly but...yeah >_>

Anyway so I went and thought I'd dig up some old fanart on deviantArt or via google and of course I found very little to nothing because you know the series ended about 10 years ago. But what made me sad was that most of the fanart I saw was either kinda sucky or a copy of an existing official image. I wanted new stuff! I can't hold anything against the artists who copied because that's how I used to draw. BUT at the same time I couldn't understand why there was such little good original art. So I'm a bit bummed. When I tried to find fanfiction...well that didn't go so well either. 90% of fanfics are TrowaxQuatre which I HATE. I have nothing against shounen ai or yaoi but I do prefer canon and I do not consider the GW shounen ai/yaoi pairings to be canon. I've read a few and I do occasionally like the interesting pairings like 1x3 or something but really the guys do technically have female counterparts. Because fanfiction.net is now overrun with scary, lame fangirls I was lucky to find The Spy and the Silencer which mostly showcases Trowa x Midii Une. But yeah not a lot are good. *sigh* I need my GW fix! Pathetic, I know. But that's what happens, I rotate from one obsession to the next.

Before I move to the next topic I'd like to plug Mike's old project: Gundam Wing Sux
I dunno when you made this Mike but I checked and someone still signed the GB this year. Crazy eh? And can you believe someone called GW Profound?! LOLZ But seriously, go check it out!

Miscellaneous things:
Just as a small detail I added some borders to my zutara doodle: Zuko and Katara HERE

And because everyoen seems to love it here's another plug of my OMG Zutara comic HERE

Also, who wants to buy Mother's Day cards? It's coming up you know and you'd better have a good card for your Mom!!! I should have some pics up of cards by some time next week.

I'm really pressed for time now because I have Mother's Day to prepare for, Exams to study for, and possibly Fanime to get ready for. There have been a few complications with Fanime so I may or may not be selling this year... we'll see... Everything is happening so fast and I'm so behind on stuff it's not even funny. And now that I'm actually working I'm even busier. (Yea for getting paid! Only my job pays ONCE a month so it's hard going month to month >.<)

02:41 pm - Thsi is for you
Sharon... I know you've been asking for some Zutara doodles so here are two that I did last night. I've got one sappy-ish one that I'm working on and may try to sell at Fanime and I have one silly one that I drew whilst on some weird crack this morning. I hope you enjoy it... I'm actually going to try working on another, more actiony one but we'll see when that gets done. The nice thing with all these is when it comes to coloring I already know what colors to use- YEA! That kills a good hour or more of the process =P

Zuko and Katara HERE
This is the kinda sappy one. It's just the rough lineart. Sorry Zuko doesn't really look too Zuko-y

This is the scrappier version but it gives you an idea of what I'm going for in the colored version: HERE

OMG Zutara comic HERE
Yeah...don't ask.

Since I'm not a Zutara fan per se and more of just a canon fan (so whatever we end up with in May I'll be happy with for the most part as long as it makes sense) I feel like I should make a Kataang doodle just to even things out. But I really try to avoid Aang because of the baldness and I am terrible at heads! I always like to draw hair because 1- it's fun and 2- it hides drawing the head! =P So we'll see

BTW Vanilla Mood
Anyone ever heard of them? They're a quartet of 4 Japanese girls (all around 25 yrs old give or take a year or two) and they play piano, violin, cello, and flute. I really like their original music (which they compose themselves - mostly the piano player does I think) and they have a lot of covers of classical music as well as pop songs or movie pop songs which they've done a twist on.

This is one of my favorites from their originals:

Unfortunately I can't find any mp3s to steal from the interwebs and can only find a ton of youtube videos of stuff. >.

06:38 pm - I don't wanna!!!
AAAGh I really don't want to take a test tomorrow night (human anatomy & physiology - hard stuff!). I am just mentally not in any mood to study! I have maybe 10 hours to study and I really need them (probably more) but I just cannot concentrate! I don't know if it's because I've a false sense of security of kinda understanding things and generally knowing what I need to know as well as some details ...but I obviously don't know enough. Or if it's a false sense of security because I've done well on the previous 2 exams. Normally I'm in a "crap study study study!" phase right now but I just CANNOT do it! I haven't been able to concentrate for the past few days and I don't know what's with me. This is worse than when I actually had other things to distract me like Stampin' Up stuff going on. Now I'm just finding things to distract me.

On another note - my classmate suggested this small restaurant in Elk Grove on Elk Grove Blvd, right off I-5. It's called Wasabi Hibachi Restaurant. It's basically a Benihana's but not. They do the whole fancy cooking in front of you, soup, salad, meal, and what not. Even the sauces are similar. The prices are basically the same but so is the food. I don't mind supporting them because 1) It's good to have other people than Benihana's in this specific business 2) they actually have asian people working there! Sure the waitresses are asian everywhere but the cooks (that I've seen) are actually Asian and everyone seems kinda young. 3) Businesses in EG don't last long sometimes.. 4) It's nice not to have to drive 1 hr to get to something similar and while it's smaller it's still nice and not lame looking...

I'm going to keep plugging this for a while so get used to it:
$5 quick sketch commissions! I can either mail you pencil copies or do one digitally. This is for ONE character. I am willing to do $5 for two if it's just busts or something simple like that. I really need some quick cash!

07:20 pm - 7 Interests Meme and Quick Commissions?
Ok so on [info]katrina_na 's LJ she's got a meme where if someone comments on her post she will pick 7 things out of their Interests list and ask the commenter to explain their interests. I commented and here are the 7 interests she picked and my explanations... Unfortunately the explanations are pretty lame =P Read on if you dare!

cosplay - I really really enjoy dressing up in costumes - it's SO MUCH FUN! Sadly I'm pretty lame and don't have ANY sewing skills at all. In fact I have a slight fear of sewing machines. Unless someone would like to a-buy me a sewing machine and b) teach me to use it w/o hurting myself then it's not likely to change anytime soon. So, my past cosplay costumes have been a school girl one. Originally it started out as my trying to be Aya-chan from Weiss Kreuz...a few people got it but I didn't dye my hair blue and though her hair is brown in the manga - it's blue in the anime so that's how most people recognized her. Instead, people thought I was Jubei-Chan from Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch - which was fine with me because I LOVE THAT SHOW! Being a school girl was also a great excuse to wear loose socks which are fun! But I totally want to do so many other characters like Lust from FMA or something! oneday... ONE DAY!

crafts - I am honestly not really THAT crafty but I do like making handmade cards and small little favors or boxes or other handmade presents. It's just cute and fun and I honestly don't know where it came from. I've been doing it since I was little only now it's more expensive than just markers, construction paper, and glue. (and nicer too). I think it's definitely from  my mom - she used to be more crafty until I came along. My sisters are also crafty people - especially my oldest, Sandy. We always dream of putting together our own business - *sigh*  But yeah other than cards (which I'm still learning to get decent at) I really don't know how to do anything else crafty - no sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc

filipino culture -  Sadly I'm not as involved in the Filipino culture as I used to be. I used to participate in some small dance performances, was in a Filipino club and relatively active - was in a Filipino cultural show in college (Pilipino Cultural Night at UCD), did essays on it...etc. I really like Filipino culture - it's very intersting and very rich - it's unfortunate that many people have moved away from it as they've become Americanized...including me. I'd like to get back into it one day though...

fan fiction - Haha so I've been basically writing fanfiction since elementary school. At the time I didn't know there was even a term for it and would just post on fanfiction message boards for shows like Sailor Moon via aol.com (yes, I was an aol.com user for a long time). I've actually been writing fanfiction since before shows like SM but there was nowhere to put those. I still like to write Fanfics but no longer have the time. I really love to write in general. I have dozens of unfinished stories written up already and another dozen just written as ideas. I'm a very verbose writer (if you haven't noticed) so my stories are long ^^; I also really like reading fanfics - I think for some shows/movies (especially those that are over) it's like reading new episodes or something... It's hard to find good fanfics nowadays though...

japan - I'm a Japanese major so I hope I'm interested in Japan! Anyway, I started taking Japanese in high school and got hooked ever since. Unfortunately i haven't kept it up and so I probably know less than i did in high school now! I really like the language and the culture but there are certainly aspects of Japan that I don't like but that's with any culture. Generally I would love to visit but I could never really live there (especially since my allergies KILL me while I"m there  =P ) I really regret never studying abroad there...

scrapbooking- I kinda cheated - I don't ACTUALLY scrapbook - yet. But I really do LOVE scrapbooks. They're so pretty when they're well made. Even if you just use magazine clippings and photos and markers and glue you can still make something fun and great! but i certainly hope I can do it my problem is being able to choose the right photos and designs and words because this is something that will last forever- I'm too indecisive!

handmade cards -I guess you can see "Crafts" for this section.

Comment if you want me to pick 7 of your interests and explain it! Or you can do it on your own anyway if you feel there are 7 interests (or more) that you wanna talk about

Commissions - I know Dana and Sharon have already voiced their ideas for commissions (btw I'm in the works of doing some Zutara-esque doodles hopefully for Fanime) but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in paying like $5 or so for a sketch. I can mail you the original if you don't mind paying shipping or I will lineart it in PS and send it digital - no color though just some shading... I need to earn some extra $$ fast but don't have time to do more than some quick doodles...

07:26 pm - Hotel Leger Adventure Complete w/ Photos!
Wow a Photo post! *gasp* (Don't get used to it)

Before I get into that- anyone hear about the LJ Strike on March 21st? Here are a few links to it: Here and Here I'm not really sure what to think of it. But generally speaking, ONE day of no comments/posts/etc on LJ isn't going to mean anything. A WEEK maybe. But one day? No.

Hotel Leger Adventure So if you haven't read my previous journal about staying at a supposedly Haunted Hotel at Hotel Leger (it's French so it's Lay-sher or something like that)... GO READ THE JOURNAL! I posted it last night before I went to bed (can you believe a 150year + hotel has no TV in the rooms but does have wireless? pretty awesome...generally I'd say internet> TV anyway)

12:45 am - Posting from a Haunted Hotel
So tonight Dan and I are staying at "Hotel Leger"        out in Mokelumne Hill (how do you even say that?)  in Calaveras County. Why on earth are we out in the middle of nowhere you ask?

Well our friend Ryan is a recently hired DA for Calaveras County and he had to do a ride-along w/ a Sheriff and it just made sense to stay in the area rather than drive an hour+ home for a few hours then drive back for work. So he convinced his gf, and Dan and me to join him. But we're not staying at just any hotel... apparently Hotel Leger has a history of ghost sitings, from Mr. Leger himself to a white lady among other apparitions. You can check out some of the stories and siting on the website.

Whether it's true or not has yet to be proven since so far we haven't encountered anything. But it is a 150+ year building so it's quite creepy what with the constant creaking of practically anything and everything. Lighting isn't great and lots of things are just so old...it's like being in a museum/antique store or something. Walking around by yourself can be really creepy and with my imagination... well yeah ^^; It's rather quaint though and I do like it. We've decided we'll come back some weekend when something more exciting is happening. We're the only guests here tonight so it's kinda nice having the whole place to ourselves (literally - even people who work here don't stay here...) We actually played in the billiards room for a few games (don't ask how we did -seriously) and plugged in the Jukebox. It was pretty fun. It was too bad I couldn't join Ryan and Dan in their consumption of room temp Fat Tire. It actually wasn't too bad apparently. Go Fat Tire!

Anyway so Dan and I are still up of course but our friends are asleep (they've got work in the morning after all). So we're going to keep ourselves busy for a while (studying for me- yea!) and who knows maybe something will happen? I certainly don't want to tempt things BUT I wouldn't mind some sort of encounter or whatever. I've seen really special things happen before but never a haunting per se. So yes, I thoroughly believe in mystical, supernatural stuff but I'm skeptical of things until I have more proof... I really don't want to walk down to the other wing of the hotel to go to the extra bathroom (we're sharing a 2 bedroom 1 bath suite but our friends are staying in the portion w/ the bathroom) late at night by msyelf lol. So creepy! I do wonder what I would do if I saw something...

It's too bad the Saloon isn't open Tues-Weds because the menu sounded really good! And isn't  it strange that they have no TVs but they have wireless internet? I suppose the TVs would ruin the aesthetic but wireless would not but still funny

08:25 pm - Tahoe Recap! Complete w/ Videos!
So Tahoe was fun! It was way too short a trip but at least we got to go and we had some good times! I didn't get much of anything done that I really needed to work on but...well meh. It was sad because I had internet! They had cable (through a line, no wireless) but hey, that's better than nothing! Wait... actually... See we had internet all day Saturday until evening hit and then BAM! Internet Denied! And when did it come back on again? Monday morning of course, when we were leaving. At least my parents will have internet while they're there... And it was really nice staying in a house compared to a hotel.

Saturday - Beatles Cover Band, Grandma Gettin' Down, and Gambling )

Sunday - Shopping & Allergic Reactions  )

Monday Before Dan and I headed home, we walked up to this field across from Heavenly (we were living near the base of Heavenly valley) and found some broken sledding stuff (those round plastic sleds). Well, they were still doable so I was the brave one and took the plunge first and it was fun! I forgot how fast you can go on those things! Of course part of it was because the snow was really icy and not nice or soft at all. I thought I wasn't going to stop! Then came Dan...who almost ended up kissing a log. XDDDD My Dad went next but he didn't get very much speed - he did get the most snow on him though. =P

10:50 pm - Hello, you've reached my LJ... I'm not home right now but...
*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*

Dan and I are going to Tahoe until Monday so I am going to be internet-less for three long days. I don't know how I'll survive but I guess I'll manage. I'll just have to figure out how I'm going to deal with the 100 LJ entries and email I'll get while I'm gone =P

Just wanted to warn you all that I will be behind on news and what not but I will try to catch up. Also, if you need to reach us, try our cells but if you don't hear back it's cause signal sucks. I already had a bad signal in Tahoe when I had a working phone but since it's now broken I'm not likely to get much of anything. I will try to find a way to check messages now and then if anyone does happen to have a signal.

Unfortunately I think I'm finally getting sick, hopefully it'll just be a cold and none of this nasty flu business so I highly doubt I'll be skiing/snowboarding. But really I am so exhausted what with the exam and all. I wish I had th eweekend to organize things and clean and craft instead but I guess it'll have to wait - as usual. I'm mad that my sister and Lance aren't coming because they had to go to Puerto Rico to visit David since he's working there for a while or whatever. And really did they have to? NO. It's really stoopid. But I won't go into the stupid traveling that that family does. Oy.

Anyway hope you all have a good weekend!

06:13 pm - Blogging Advice and Starship Troopers
So now that I'm officially a Stampin' Up demonstrator I wanted to start making a website. Well, the next best thing at least. I am going to use deviantart to host my website - have photos up with prices and other information. But a lot of SU! dmonstrators and even just regular crafters have BLOGS. So I think I need to get one going. Problem is - which blog to sign up with? I've heard mixed reviews on all the blogs, Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress, etc and I don't really know what to use. I could make things easier for me and just get a paid LJ account but I don't like LJ's business anymore what with their crazy panic stage of deleting accounts because they're idiots. So I don't want to support them in any way. I would move this to a different blog but I've gotten too used to it...

I want to be able to put up a lot of photos since I will have to put up projects and what not on the site so lots of storage space is good, be able to post links, have either good pre-made templates or be able to make my own, have people who aren't signed up with the blog to be able to comment, etc etc, it should be easy to use, but if there are problems - good support, cheap or free.

Anyway so what do you guys think? I know some of you use Wordpress how is that working for you? Tyeppad is a paid account by month which isn't TOO bad especially since it's supposed to be worth it but I think I might already do a paid account with dA so I don't know if I want two paid accounts... not sure it's worth it yet. I'm just worried I will choose one company but have to switch later on... One thing I don't like about blogspot and wordpress is that you have to buy extra storage yearly. It's not a one time fee at least it doesn't look to be that way. I know 1-3 GB is a lot of storage for free but...yeah

Also, what's a good program to make newsletters? Is Word good enough or is there a program that's actually much better for that sort of thing?

Starship Troopers So Dan and I just recently found out that the book that the movie is based on originally had a FILIPINO lead. Johnny Rico was Juan "Johnny" Rico and FILIPINO. But nooooo Hollywood decided that was a no-no and we got Casper Van Diem or however you spell his name. POOPY! POOPY I SAY! Apparently though the 3D series follows the book more accurately and does feature a Filipino Johnny Rico. I still like the ridiculous movie but man, that just makes me mad.
