When you see this in your flist, quote some Shakespeare.
Dogberry: "But masters, remember that I am an ass; though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass...I am a wise fellow, and which is more, and officer, and which is more, a householder, and which is more, as pretty a piece of flesh as in all Messina..."

01. Reply with your name and I'll write something about you. 02. I'll then tell what songs/movies remind me of you. 03. I will try to name a single word that best describes you. 04. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you. 05. Then I'll tell you my silliest memory of you. 06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of. 07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you. 08. Put this in your journal. |

This is a great article. I've always thought about this sort of thing, but never got around to making the actual list or guide or whatever. This fella on k5 did so, and it's bloody brilliant.

From the US Treaty with Tripoli, 1796-1797. Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation:
Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; [emphasis mine] as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Their last idea was to make a poll to take to congress showing support for the anti-gay marriage amendment. Let's make sure this one fails just as badly.

So, I was heading for the closest Barnes and Noble to get a smooth-over-sorry-gift for the g/f yesterday and was hit up by a voter registration activist. Rock out with the voting registration, but this was a particularly well-to-do area, so I really wonder how much they really could do there. I'd wonder if they were also working in middle-to-lower class areas also?
Anyway, told themn I was registered and voting Dem in November and kept right on walkin'. In retrospect, I kinda wish I would've asked them who they were working with. Doh. |
