A look inside...

| Nov. 30th, 2007 11:14 pm fantastic night Playing around on my computer tonight after uploading photos of our newest little puppy (not Roxie) led me to check the tour schedules for my two favorite bands - Teada and The Town Pants. BOTH will be at Celtic CLassic 2008 and that makes me SO incredibly happy I can't even think of the words to express how happy it makes me.
I've been having fun with our new little girl that Mom brought home on the 29th. She is giving Bailey a run for her money and will continue to do so through their years of companionship. That brings our total to a dog pack of three. It's bound to only get more interesting from here.
I also have more news to share soon. (Perhaps Dec. 3 or a few days after that) Leave a comment

| Nov. 24th, 2007 07:30 pm a good laugh So I got an email at school the other week and it made me laugh. This line in particular. "Come on out and dance, sing along and "Catch VD" at the Macungie Fire Company..."
It was an email about a band called Vinyl Diner that a teacher at the middle school is in. I had to laugh when I read that line.
On another note, it's under a months until I see some fantastic Irish men and I can't wait!!! I'm also taking my first personal day the day after the show.
One last random thing...we're getting another dog. I'll post pictures somewhere once Roxie comes home. : ) Leave a comment

| Jul. 26th, 2007 09:24 pm I feel much better about next weekend. I'll be leaving early Saturday morning for Ohio. I get to see my sis Steph who I've not seen since Christmas. What really cemented things was when Steph called saying she could make it for the weekend in Ohio. That made me scramble to get a hotel room booked, which I did after probably an hour of searching. The hotel seems like it's going to be really nice, though I'm not convinced it's where the guys are staying, but I could be pleasantly surprised...I'll post a full report when I get home.
In other news, I'll be searching for information tomorrow for my job interview on Tuesday. I'm hoping things will go really well and I'll know whether I'll have to come in for another interview or even if I have the job before my weekend of fun.
I have also realized that if this teaching jobs works out and I begin my career in education, that would mean leaving the bookstore. While this is only natural, I will really miss it there. I work with some amazing people and it will probably be incredibly difficult to leave. The owners have always treated me extremely well and I think it may be the most difficult telling them about leaving. I'll be sure to try to keep in touch with them, as well as a few of my other fellow "troublemakers" Mike and Gil when the time comes. Honestly, this part time job will probably be the hardest for me to leave... Leave a comment

| Jun. 10th, 2007 10:49 am What a beautiful day yesterday. It was great not having to work at all. I went on an adventure with a friend I haven't hung out with in awhile. Matt and I drove to Longwood Gardens, about an hour away. On the way down, we saw 2 accidents before we got half an hour away from home, one of which we saw happen. It was nice just getting to talk and catch up on the drive. We spent a few hours wandering around the beautiful grounds under a sunny sky. He took lots of pictures of all the gorgeous flowers and landscaping, and then we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant on the grounds (even though it was expensive). Around 7, we headed over to the outdoor arena for the Gaelic Storm show that was scheduled for 7:30. We got seats in the fourth row! It was an awesome concert and we both took lots of pictures. The band (being their lively selves) kept moving, which made it tough to get completely clear pictures. They sang and played most of my favorite songs. The highlight for me was Johnny Tarr. They always kid around before doing the song for real, and for this concert, there were versions of Johnny Tarr as Kenny Chesney, Michael Jackson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and (Twigger's personal favorite) The Beegees. They got everyone involved in the sound effects that happen at the beginning of the song, which Patrick responded too by saying it sounded like a Pennsylvania Turkey farm. Oddly enough, the band wasn't provided with alcoholic beverages...only Deer Park water. This was most definitely commented on by Patrick. In fact he changed the verse about American girls completely in the song "I miss my home" (When I was a teenager, me mommy said to me, stay away from all the American girls, they'll never let you be. So I went to Pennsylvania to see what I could see. They filled me up with Deer Park Water...they never let me be)
It didn't take too long for the "Beer Fairies" to arrive. The people sitting pretty much right in front of us had gone and gotten them a round. When he saw it, Patrick had literally run across the stage to get it. It was a fantastic day, topped off by my getting my one cd signed and a picture with Twigger and Patrick. We also saw a little of the lighted fountain show, but it wasn't quite as impressive as we imagined it was going to be. There was music in the background that just didn't quite match what was going on, not to mention that was when it finally started to drizzle and rain a little bit. | May. 20th, 2007 05:22 pm An update It's crazy and hard to believe that I've been working a month now as an ESL teacher. It's sort of flown by. There's also only 4 weeks left until school lets out for me. Yes I know...we finish late. That doesn't mean I'm seeing kids the whole time. I really only have about 3 weeks left to teach between field trips and special events at the school. While my schedule between school and the bookstore is crazy, my life is not quite dull. I may feel sometimes that I don't get to do a whole lot because of my schedule, but I still get my share of fun I suppose. Last weekend I was able to make it to a little of a graduation party after being at the bookstore all day, then we had a nice relaxing Mother's Day at home.
I was really glad to get out this past Wednesday night. After school, I came home and changed to head back over to MoCo to meet up with Christine and Samantha. We went to Tortilla Flats for dinner (which was excellent) where I ended up seeing my first coop from student teaching. I walked through the door to our table and all I heard was "You treating?" It was a great laugh. We finished our dinner in time to get to the Boyd Theater's 7 pm showing of Spiderman 3 (which was also good). Another Samantha ended up meeting up with us for the movie. While we were watching the movie, there was a scene which caused the most hilarious remark of the evening. A fellow movie-goer said, "Oh no...he did NOT just hit her." It led to a good bit of laugher when we left. Outside we ran into Matt and Ivy and we decided to all head to The Cup for ice cream. It was great hanging out and just talking for awhile. There better be more of these dinner and a movie/girl's nights because it was a lot of fun (even though I left a little early -10:15 or so - since I had school the next day)!
Anyway, on Friday, I ended up seeing a few people I know (including a high school classmate's dad) while I was working at the bookstore, and yesterday I saw three families from church. I'm a little surprised I saw anyone at all since I was in the back cleaning and straighening up the closet where we keep boxes for merchandise we have on display. It was worth it I suppose though since I did get extra compensation from the boss in the form of green. He said, "Here...take your family out to lunch." He's done that sort of thing a few times...not that I'm complaining since I've benefitted from it. It'll be a sad day when I decide to stop working at the bookstore since there are so many fun people I work with there. I am looking forward to starting the weekly Storytime for the summer too.
Today was nice too. I slept in a little compared to most weekdays, then got ready for church. It was Confirmation Sunday and one of the kids that got Confirmed is like a little brother to me. I was there for most of the morning and was quite shocked to find my parents had come too. There is a story behind the surprise. The short version is that my parents used to come to my church, but some circumstances came about which brought my mom (who was a member there - Dad never was) to find a new church. It was a nice surprise since usually Mom won't set foot there, but it took J getting confirmed for them to make the trip. We ended up going out for breakfast/lunch and then heading over to J's grandma's house for a party to celebrate his confirmation. I'll be spending the rest of today relaxing.
Some plans are still in the works for summer, but it should be a fun summer. I'm planning a day trip to Longwood Gardens for June 9th. Let me know if you're interested in joining me. So you know, Gaelic Storm is playing there that day, and I want to see them. However, I also want to spend time walking around the gardens. Two weeks after that, it'll be a graduation party on Saturday followed by camp for three days with my darling little first and second graders. This will be the third year I'm doing this and I can't wait! Hopefully August will bring a really fun weekend in Ohio...fingers crossed that this one works out! Since this is now longer than I originally planned, I'm going to finish up. Later! Leave a comment

| Apr. 19th, 2007 04:09 pm random things There's a whole lot that's been going on for me.
- I dropped off a number of letters/applications at school districts yesterday. After I got home, I got a phone call telling me that the principal in the one district wanted to schedule and interview. I got the call today and scheduled the interview for next week. - Bailey's doing very well after her spaying. She got her stitches out yesterday and is completely back to running around like the madwoman she is. - I subbed this afternoon for the last time this school year in the district where I began the year. I was at the very school where I began the school year. I covered three different classes while the teachers had meetings. I then asked the ladies in the office if there was anything they needed help with and there was. I dropped off picture forms in most of the grades. When it got to fifth grade, I went in to the last class I needed to and one of the boys just blurted out "You hot". At that point, the teacher (the only male teacher in fifth grade who just happens to be near the same age that I am) just shot the kid a funny look. I was amused. - My new job starts tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it! Leave a comment

| Mar. 22nd, 2007 10:00 am I had an interview yesterday with a local school district for a long term substitute position in ESL. I felt great when I left the interview.
This morning, I got a call from the principal at the school, and she offered me the job. I accepted!! I will be a full time ESL teacher starting next month!! Current Music: the radio (Cat Country)

| Feb. 14th, 2007 08:04 am an update... Time for a bit of an update.
I woke up to find that schools were cancelled and it wasn't totally unexpected. Of course my college alma mater wasn't closed. I checked my email to see if there was a chance my professor had emailed. She had and so I have absolutely no where I have to be today. I'll be getting a lot of work done for the class, which is good since I'm incredibly busy next week subbing. Anyway, I'm still hoping for a message from a particular person which would make my day even better. Off to work on all my stuff soon.
Happy Valentine's Day! Current Mood: determined

| Dec. 30th, 2006 10:13 pm 2006 in Review I have to say that 2006 was a pretty good year overall. There were good and bad things obviously, but the good things definitely outweigh the few things that were unpleasant.

| Nov. 12th, 2006 09:59 am a real update. Let's see...I've not done a real update anywhere lately and now I've got two places.
Things in my life are still quite a bit crazy. I've been subbing on a day to day basis, so I've been able to take days and work around the house in my room or on a project. I'm about halfway done with my third class now towards the ESL (English as a Second Language) certificate. I'm also still working at the bookstore two nights a week and Saturdays. That's lead to some interesting stories.
Let me start by saying that the phone is a very strange thing when you're in retail. I have to say that the funniest phone story comes from our manager Mike. He answered the phone one day a few weeks ago and the question on the other end was "Are you open?" and this was in the middle of a Saturday afternoon I believe. Mike's response was hilarious. He told the customer that he'd check, put them on hold for a few seconds, to recover from laughing, and then got back on the phone with a response of yes. The strangest story yet to happen with the phone that I've experience was more on the creepy side and I won't get into that unless you ask me.
Simply working in retail is an experience in itself. When we were opening the store yesterday two managers (Gil and Darlene) had gone into the office to check on the fish. Well one had passed away and Gil wanted to make sure it really was dead, so he'd been poking at it with a net. He got it out and it was determined that (jokingly) we should try rescue breathing. That rescue breathing had a different name. It was (drum roll please) Gil to gill. We all simply laughed when we heard that. It was a fun way to start the day. Later in the day, I found out that if I want to, I can go see Jars of Clay for free. However, when I listened to their music, I really wasn't impressed or hooked.
That brings me to this morning. My mom came into my room and asked me if I was getting up. She told me I'm an aunt... Her one rat from school had babies last night and we don't yet know how many. They will be home for awhile now until the babies are big enough.
To sum it all up, I guess things are going well, even though things are crazy. Leave a comment

Sep. 4th, 2006 03:30 pm I was bored...
90 degrees and humid. Um, in a sexy way.
Hanging out with you is like spending a day at the beach – it’s fun, exciting and inviting, and there’s bound to be some good views. Plus, you’re a crowd favorite – there’s a ton of people who like you and want to be with you. (If you haven’t found all those people yet, be patient – they’re out there.)
Keep it up! With your great attitude and total hotness, you’re bound to keep ‘em coming back.

Hearts and rainbows all the way - you’re a total romantic.
Animal lust is nice, but you’d rather be in love with someone before you start tearing them apart. When you’re in a relationship, you generally treat the other person really well. You don’t cheat, and you’re respectful of their differences. And when you’re not in a relationship, you’re selective about the people you choose to kiss or even get crushes on.
You’ve got a great thing going on, but don’t be afraid of letting that animal side come out every now and then. A couple bite marks never hurt anyone (much).

You’ve got a couple dirty spots on an otherwise squeaky clean record. Careful – one wild night and you’ll muck everything up.
On the eSPIN Purity Scale (patent pending), you score 5 Purity Points out of 6. Which makes you 83% pure, give or take a couple tequila shots. You’ve got a little bit of tarnish on your otherwise sparkling personal history. Not bad! We’re impressed.

| Jul. 24th, 2006 12:50 pm I don't know that I have the strength to deal with everything that's just happened.
I had class this morning and had called off work for this afternoon. I get out of class to find a message that our one dog died after a rough night. I get home to find a message that Dayton may not be happening...
I still don't know about the job with Bethlehem...
God help me because I certainly need it. 2 comments - Leave a comment
