Tiny friends-list cut, just a couple of peeps who I am pretty sure won't even notice. If you do, let me know. <3

Okay, this is pretty neat (I'm just quoting because I have a headache which has shut down the few thinking parts of my brain):
"A master's student at Georgetown is working on fan fiction for her thesis. There's a survey and she needs as many people from as many fandoms as possible to complete it so that the diversity of fan culture is represented."

O NO NOT TEH MEME TSUNAMI.

Sorry y'all. This is that movie quote one that you'll never see me actually guessing at because I SUCK at quotes. It really is kind of tragic.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search or other search functions.

Which sci-fi crew would you best fit in with?
You scored as Moya (Farscape).

You are surrounded by muppets. But that is okay
because they are your friends and have shown many
times that they can be trusted. Now if only you
could stop being bothered about wormholes.

THAT SHOW HAS SO MUCH PRETTY. GOD.

Okay, a little link love:

[info]thingaday08 is up now. Not finished yet, but up for joining and ideas. spacetiger is co-mod if she wants it (she is the Creator of all things after all), and if she doesn't I'm going to hunt one of y'all down to help because I am a really shitty solo mod. I know that even without trying it. and lafemmezilla is the other member of the Trinity.

We're going to have love (and a tag) for thing-a-week people, too, since I know a lot of peeps get the crazy eyes thinking about making something each day.

[info]trexsrestaurant is the most kick-ass money management community ever. ONE OF US ONE OF US. If you are trying to save money and/or have a Target Problem, it is the PLACE TO BE.

*************

I am also really excited about [info]destashcraft; I have been itching for a place like this. If you have a huge craft stash that needs paring down, you will probly be excited too.

That's it for now, poke me if I've forgotten anything!

This year I'm trying to keep track of the fooooooods we make that are good. This is a recipe from The Orange Cookbook (officially known as Basic Cooking or something), made even lazier by yours truly. (It is a shame this is not a more marketable skill.)

I AM TIRED OF WRITIN EMO ENTRIES.

So screw Mars and all its little travels, I am going to write about something cheerful and happy-making.

Oh, first though, WHAT IS UP WITH VENUS (the magazine, not the planet or the tennis playah). It has turned to half-crap. I'm not talking about the redesign, that's... okay. But OH MY GOD I am so pissed that I just paid for a subscription. Between my annoyance with some of the current content and the teeth-gritting typos, I am thisclose to typing up a "those were the days, back when we walked uphill both ways" letter. Jeez.

Anyway. Where was I? Oh, happy.

CALENDARS. I love calendars. I don't know why, but a fresh calendar brightens my week no matter what part of the year it is. I love them during December especially, though, because it's like a promise of change just when I need it most. Plus, you know, everyone and their mom puts out (THAT'S WUT SHE SAID) pretty pretty new calendar designs this time of year.

My favorite place to calendar browse is Etsy. Here are my top ten calendars from Etsy as of RIGHT NOW.

*************

ilee's 2008 letterpress calendar

This is my absolute favorite calendar format, one I discovered last year. The calendar is the size of a CD case, and comes... in a CD case, ha. These may be old news to everyone else, but I was SO PSYCHED that I finally had a calendar that would fit my aesthetic sense as well as my desk top when mine arrived last January.

In addition, I LOVE letterpressed art. There is no way I can convey the depth of my love for letterpress in the English language. Or French. Not even Klingon. So naturally I had to wait to share this link until I was sure I could get a calendar from the place I got my Favorite Calendar Ever last year. There you go. The 2007 version on my desk right now is headed for some sort of frame after this year is over, it's that beautiful.

If you dig through Etsy, you'll find a lot of letterpress-printed calendars in the same cute format. But the one from ilee is my hands-down favorite (even if the May page is not exactly the best design ever). JULY IS A JELLYFISH PEOPLE.

*************

the rest. (warning: ratty illustration ahead.) )

[edit: And fountaingirl pointed out buyolympia's awesome calendar stash. GO FORTH AND COVET. Lord knows I am.]

Okay, I just did a leetle drama-free friends cut, mostly people who I am 98% sure don't read my journal or have moved away from eljay. If I was wrong, comment, it's no prob, I'm just trying to make this as easy on everyone as possible.

Is this... a shipping confirmation chock full o' SARCASM? Seriously. Am I reading it wrong? (READING: YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.)

Your Spoon Fudge was made fresh for you. A team of our highly trained milkers was sent out into the field to choose the freshest cream from only the happiest cows. This was then slow-churned into gloriously creamy, golden butter by our Butter Churning Employees.

Our plant in Hawaii rushed out as soon as your order was received and picked a few stalks of our private reserve sugar cane from which the highest-quality, pure-cane sugar was obtained.

A team of 25 Cocoa Specialists personally inspected every cocoa bean before creating a batch of gorgeous dark chocolate, the likes of which the world has never seen before.

All these ingredients were then gently heated and stirred to produce your order of Spoon Fudge. This is the best order we've ever created and it is with immense pleasure that we now send this to you. The entire team held a parade in your honor as we marched your package down to the Post Office. You should have seen the celebration!

I think I'm in love.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO BE DOING

SOMEONE ANYONE please affirm that I am not alone in my strangeness: please tell me there is someone else who would start snickering after seeing the logo for a shopping center called "Park Place" in giant foot-high letters... in Shelley Volante.

Okay, to be fair, it may have been another Shelley variant, I was too blinded by the hilarity to check.

Oh god. YOU AT LEAST CHORTLED, RIGHT? LIE TO ME.

Welllll now I guess I should figure out Emma's package, huh? (I will be e-mailing you shortly, dahlink!)

If I hadn't been pushed into what I'm doing now, most of these would actually be viable candidates for my career. I'm surprised at how accurate this was, minus the accounting for aptitude.

Also, please god, no market research or stock clerking in my future. Ugh. I'm sort of sad my dream job of editor is all the way down at twenty-seven, though.

I made an amazing, stupendous, mind-altering discovery while cruising teh intertubes waiting for Futurama last night.

There is wank over Ratatouille.

As you may imagine, this made my night.
