I haven't sat down in a while and written an entry so I thought I'd record some of the things I did during my vacation in June.

Happy 2nd Anniversary my love!! Well, we're going on 2 yrs of legally wedded bliss - and it'll be 10 years total in October. It's hard to believe, but at the same time it's hard to imagine doing anything without you.
You're the Love of my life and my best friend.
Happy 2 years!

Ok - So - I'm not really back in Vancouver after our wedding weekend... I'm actually in NS at my house. How? WELL, about 2.5 weeks ago my sister mentioned how it would be really funny if she abducted me in Ottawa, took me back to Vermont for the week, and then we surprise Mom and Dad in Nova Scotia. *pause* GREAT IDEA!
So On Sunday I actually took off to Vermont and worked from my sister's house for a few days. Last night we drove as far as Bangor, stayed overnight at a cheap Inn, and then made it home by 4:30 today!! Wahoo!! Sister Road Trip!!!! My parents reactions were well worth the secrecy - and it's great to be back in town when there aren't Christmas Trees and wrapping to worry about! Now I've got a super busy weekend ahead of me - my brother's in a play in Halifax, I'm throwing a shower for my sister, and to top it off the whole family is going to Halifax on Monday night for an evening of debauchery before I fly back to Vancouver on Tuesday. SWEEEEEEEET!
This is apparently the year of "Secret Vacations"

Just got back from a 4 day weekend in Ottawa for my sister-in-law's wedding.
Thursday, -Watched "Vantage Point" on the plane - not bad. -Flew into O-Town, checked into our downtown hotel (Indigo) - nice enough place. Giant Iris wall photo on one wall. -Had a Nap. So tired. -Visited The Falcon and Bella - had a great visit, got caught up and made me miss my old digs. -10:30 Ontario Time = 7:30 Vancouver Time. We were hungry. Went to the Empire Grill for a nostalgic expensive dinner from our Bytown Days. We were soon reminded that the NHL hockey draft was happening in town the next evening. Two older, wealthier looking men were sitting right beside - we didn't think anything of it until Jacques Martin walked up and started talking. I'm still kinda shocked that I recognized him first.. I pay more attention to hockey than I let on. We soon realized who the two men beside us were... Gary Bettman
The NHL Commissioner and Colin Campbell
- the #1 and #2 men of the NHL.
So we proceeded to have very light conversation while we eavesdropped.. rude? Yes. Interesting? Definitely! Most of the time they were being interrupted by other NHL big wigs, but they did manage to have a few conversations regarding the Maple Leafs and Burke...
My steak was really really overcooked so I sent it back (I hate doing that) and the waitress was so apologetic, she offered to send some more food and apologized since it was so busy with the NHL guys and Gretzky was down back etc etc... *HOLD IT* Gretzky is here???? I asked her if she could take me around back just to see him then we'd call it even. She took off to see what she could do but he had left 10 minutes earlier. *sigh* till next time Wayner...
Oh yes, and when Bettman and Campbell were leaving we realized Campbell forgot his glasses so Sean took off to find him while I stopped Bettman and told him... Sean got a handshake out of it. Unfortunately no job offers.
After dinner (about 12:30 at this point) we strolled over to Parliament and hung out by the Eternal Flame. It made me miss Ottawa a ton!! We weren't sure if Ottawa was going to live up to our old expectations but it did.
Friday - Let the wedding stuff begin! We met up with the family and get everything packed and ready to go to the outskirts of O-town where the wedding was being held. Busy time, but really fun - checked into our BEAUTIFUL bed and breakfast (Clyde Hall BnB) and went to the rehearsal. Good times! - Went to the rehearsal dinner and then the after party at Amanda and Dave's friend's place. Had a great time - showed off the slide-show I'd been working on for a couple of months. And my sister and her fiance showed up just in time! Of course we stayed longer than most and had a hilarious time with Amanda's friends.
Saturday Had a really relaxing morning while everyone else was off getting hair done or playing golf. Then it was wedding time! Off to the church we went - Sean and I sang "The Book of Love" by Peter Gabriel and I think it went pretty well. The Church service was really nice (and short) and then it was time for photos and food!! Karen and John (Beer Bait n Ammo) played during the cocktail hour which was great, and Karen and I even sang "Out on the Mira" for all the Maritimers in there! Food was great, sat with Steve and Anne, Marty and Sophie, and Karen and John. Danced, took Polaroids, ate some more, danced some more and then went to bed by 2! Good times!
Now wedding time is over and we're feeling a little family-sick! Booooo (But still really happy) I'll post a couple pics later - but I didn't take too many... :)

A pleasant evening out eventually led to a night of dancing and attempted pick-ups. Hilarity ensues.
- Had nice dinner with Melissa and Sean - Met up with the Aussie gang on the West Side at the Bayside, chatted had a good time. Skipped out on any alcoholic drinks since I'm battling a cold - I want to be primed for O-Town next weekend... - It somehow was decided that we should go dancing - fair enough - lets go. Sean hits a wall but chugs two Red Bull's and rallies. - Celebrities had $20 cover so that was out of the picture, so we headed to Granville Street. We eventually decided on "The Cellar", the $10 cover seemed reasonable. It's been a while since I've been to a non-gay bar, and I now remember why I choose Celebrities above all else.. this place was PACKED with sketchy boys.. I swear to God I had the Saturday night Live guys try and dance with us.. I won't even get into the whole scene - so many desperate men. Oh but special mention goes to the boy in the nicely pressed white shirt and rosary beads around his neck. Nice touch.
- My favorite part of the night was when Sean and I went to the back wall to sit down. The others were still dancing, and Sean decided he was going to the bathroom. So there I was - a target for all of these sketchy boys - sure enough within 45 seconds a guy sits beside me.
Conversation that ensues:
Guy: Hey Me: Hello Guy: How are you doing? Me: Pretty good, and you? Guy: I'm alright. Are you having a good time? Me: Yeah Guy: Me Too. *pause* Guy: Did you want to dance? Me: Nah Guy: Yeah, me either - I find it boring. Me: Me too. Guy: Are you upset? Me: No, Are YOU?? Guy: No no, just a little bored. What's your name? Me: Katie Guy: Janie? Me: No Katie. *I can see Sean coming back at this point* Guy: Mary? Me: No KATIE Guy: Oh, ok I'm Jamal Me: Hi Jamal *shake hands* Me: This is my husband Sean Sean: Hey man.. *manly handshake* Guy: *laughs* Me: I'm going to go dance now Guy: Yeah sure thing
Next time - remind me that the $20 cover charge at Celebrities is WORTH IT.
Memorable Evening 4/5 stars.

It was a beautiful weekend, and after spending all day Saturday working at home, we needed to get out of the house. We flipped through our "109 Walk in British Columbia's Lower Mainland" and set our sights on #78 - Pitt Wildlife Management Area in Pitt Meadows. Sean and I booked an economy car at Alamo, persuaded Simon and Al to tag along (although they didn't need much persuading) and packed our lunch. When we got to the rental agency everything was going smoothly, we were just about to get our keys when the attendant said "Oh! I forgot to ask if you wanted to upgrade to a convertible for an extra $20".. we paused and hesitantly asked.. "What kind of convertible?".. his reply "A Mustang".. we stare at each other for .5 seconds and simultaneously say ( We'll take it. )
