It was THREE years ago today at 10AM that we had the funeral Service for my Brenda, my Earthgirl and the "Mother of Pride" I STILL MISS HER! Peace ALSO On another note, today also would have been my sister's (Marge Brambir - 1955-1998) 53nd Birthday I miss her too! It's days like this that make you think only of what your have lost and not of what you still have (or will have). I am truly thankful of all my friends (on and off line)!!!. Thank you for allowing to share this with you. -Larry-

Today we remember what happend at the Stonewall Inn in NYC as "Pride day", but you might also remember

brendahoward, "Mother of Pride" and bisexual activist, who coordinated the first month anniversary rally and then the "Christopher Street Gay Liberation Day March" on June 28, 1970 to commemorate the first year anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.

She passed away Three year ago today, from Colon cancer.

Ok I went to the Queens PFLAG meeting today and my friend

mashfanficchick showed up! It was nice see her there.

Afterwards I walked her to her Grandmother's place [which is not that far from where the meeting was held.

After that I made my way to Folsom Street East.

As my luck goes as soon as I went about 10 feet outside the subway it started to rain a little.

A short time after I got there, the rain got heavier. Walked around and waited the rain out. After 30 minutes or so it stopped.

I ran into many people that I know including Emily and

nyghtowl who I hang out with at the TES table the last hour or so.

Afterwards, they took me to dinner at florent which is closing in a week. [Thank you again!]

Sat. 1. 10:AM Went to Shabbat morning services led by the Traditional Egalitarian Minyan at CBST on Bethune Street to said the mourner's Kaddish for Brenda - I also sponsored the kiddush afterwards in memory of Brenda. 2. 6:00 PM Leather Pride Night Got there at about 7pm. The placed was PACKED! Ran into a lot of the people I know. Met some people for the first time. Afterwards, I want to the TES play party at paddles at stayed way to late :-). ---------------------------------------- As for today, I was planning to go to the Folsom Street East street fair but because of a schedule change I will be going to the Queens chapter of PFLAG at 2pm for which I am on the board. [But I m-i-g-h-t try to Folsom but only near the end of it.] and speaking of PFLAG Queens we are having a special pride meeting today... June 29th is the NYC Pride March and I am looking for people that might be available to march with me and the New York Area Bisexual Network and help with Bi visibility.

You do not have to be bisexual to march with us.

Oh, if you have not heard The NYABN HAVE A NEW BANNER! Last month I obtain a new one for them! So please come out and help me carry the NEW banner and be among the FIRST to march with] it!

Here is the march information:

Bi groups are in Section 10 (Bi/Trans/Political Movement/Politicians) this year and will be lining up at 12:30 PM on 54th St. Between 5th & 6th.

If you make it Please try to get there before that, say at the latest NOON, so we can get organized and talk.
I will try to be there around 11:30-11:45 AM because I am the Group's Marshall I have to be there earlier.

Yesterday was my 50th Birthday. Too bad I had to work and do meeting. I got a number of online BD wishes here, Myspace, facebook and email sent to me directly. I also got a number of calls from off-line friends and family. In fact I got a call from my Niece [first time she did that]. My "boss" and co-worker took me to dinner at a place called Louie's out in Port Washington. It was a very nice place and the food was great!

GET INVOLVED- Gov. Patterson is polling support for his marriage decision as opposition takes legal action!

Gov. David Paterson told state agencies on May 14 that New York must recognize same-sex marriages performed in Massachusetts, Canada and other places where they are legal. The directive should provide gay couples with as many as 1,300 rights afforded to married heterosexuals, including the ability to collect health and pension benefits, being admitted as “close family” in a hospital room and transferring a business license.

On June 3rd, a Christian legal organization says it has sued to stop New York from recognizing same-sex marriages legally performed in other states. The Alliance Defense Fund says it filed its lawsuit Tuesday in a court in the Bronx. Several Republican state senators are named as party to the suit. The Arizona-based legal group filing the lawsuit has intervened elsewhere in gay marriage and religious freedom cases.

WE MUST STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS NOW!

Governor Patterson is doing a poll on whether people support his decision. Take 5 seconds to lodge your support, just call 1-518-474-8390. You will talk to a live person from the Governor's office during business hours.

As I said in another post today I will be at the 16th Annual Queens Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Parade & Multi-Cultural Festival and I still need help getting the banners of Queens Chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and the New York Area Bisexual Network (NYABN) carried in the pride march.

Currently it looks like only the PFLAG banner will be carried :-( I need 1-3 more people to get the network banner carried.

If you would like to help me carry the banner for the NYABN you would be the first to help carry the new banner that I got!

Reminder: The parade steps off at 12:00 NOON (so we should meet there at 11:30AM) somewhere on 89th Street Near 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights Queens (NYC).

Hi all, I have been meaning to post this bit of info earlier today but work got in the way!

By this time next week (May 22nd) I will be in Baltimore on my way to

balticon [my first one].

I will be on

amtrak train #2159 which Departs New York - Penn Station at 1:00 pm and is scheduled to arrive at Baltimore's Penn Station at 3:12 pm.

I will be meeting

badgerthorazine who will be on the same train but will be getting on at South Station [9:15AM]. NOTE she we will bringing her "scooter" with her so we MIGHT need some help at the station when we get to Baltimore. Is anyone local that help us?

The Tristate Poly Discussion Group will be doing somthing special this month here is the event description:

For the month of May, we are going to do a skit/role play activity for the first hour of the discussion group. People can split up into small groups, work on presenting a skit for 5-10 min, and then present the skit to the rest of the people there!

Here are some skit ideas:

* Talking on the phone with another while in company of another, who has
issues around it. Talking it out.
* jealousy vs. compersion a realization.
* dealing with STD risk among a group, how do you talk about it.
* Talking to people who are not poly.
* "Coming Out" as poly, when, where, with whom.

I forgot to post this on Tuesday.

Tuesday May 6th was Nurse's Day and the start of National Nurses Week that ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday.

I want to again thank all the Nurse's, CNA, HHA, and everyone else at Trump Pavilion of Jamaica Hospital for the care that that gave my Brenda while she was there in 2005 and for the comfort you gave me after her passing.

I also want to wish all the Nurse's, CNA, HHA, etc. out there that take care of someone. I do know how it can be a hard job.

As I did last year and every year since I lost my Brenda, I sent each floor that she was on and to the general staff flowers as a special thank you.

Mildred Loving, a black woman whose challenge to Virginia's ban on interracial marriage led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling striking down such laws nationwide, has died.

Mildred Loving along with her husband Richard were the plaintiffs in Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court case that legalized interracial marriage in all fifty states.

This is a public apology to someone who's LJ I read but they do not read mine, but people she knows do read mine. [I did post this to her LJ]. I hope she reads and accepts this.

I want to say that I am sorry that what I said made you fell uncomfortable.
Yes, we have known each other for over 12 years [including the years you where out west and we had no contact at all] and yes I know that you have NEVER expressed any interest in me in any way execpt maybe as a friend [and ONLY as a friend] and please understand that yes I do accept and know that nothing beyond that is ever going to happend between us.

I see now that my "flirtation" did go way overboard and I am truely sorry that it did. I would like to chalk it up to the fact that It was late and I have not been sleep well as of late, but I do not want to use that for a valid excuse because when you make a FRIEND feel uncomfortable there
truely is no EXCUSE.

In the future, I will be more carefull what I say and again I am sorry.
