State of the Union!!
Since I'm in a good mood because it's my crush's birthday today, I went ahead and approved all pending membership requests to get in here. So to all n00bs, welcome welcome! But, since people don't seem to read the User Info, I just wanted to make a Public Post about Membership Requests in general. This was added to the UI a while back:

EDIT on July 2, 2006: people are wondering how I decide who to accept and reject. I look at your Profile, and if it has no information, you get rejected. If your LJ has never been used or hasn't been updated in over a month or longer, you get rejected. And if you have any interests that might make me suspicious you're a troll, you get rejected. If you'd like to plead your case or tell me why you're applying BEFORE I do anything with your request, orlis_rr_girl@livejournal.com is where to reach me.

I'm very pleased and appreciative that our members have been so awesome thus far, so THANK YOU all for that. As well as for your contributions of articles, pictures, and GORGEOUS fanart in all forms! And I understand if you find that maybe I'm being harsh or overprotective but, I believe it was one of the reasons I was asked to help watch over this place, ya know? So I'm just trying to do "my job," so to speak. Oh, and let me also add that I know some people sign up for journals JUST to use for communities like this one, but they usually make at least ONE post in their journal to state that OR say so in their UI. If I find a journal that states that but hasn't been used or updated, I usually let them in because I know tons of people DO do that and not just troublemakers.

And because nobody loves an "all text post," behind-the-cut are the most recent pics of Katie that I am aware of ... from the Fuji Rock Film Festival on July 28, 2006! But because this post IS public, replies will be screened!

Rock on )

Hey, you guys! I'm pleased to announce that I am now one of the co-mods to the community. Plus, we have a brand new layout! So check it out. Feedback is much welcomed as I just finished it up. It's the first layout I've ever done like this on LJ servers.

I'm planning to add all new pics of Kate this weekend, including new photos of her in Australia, filming Superman Returns, etc. It kind of looks like she's back together with Orlando, or at least they're cooking up something together, so there are a ton of pics of them that will be posted.

In the meantime, check out these great Kate sites:

- Kate Bosworth Fan (which I also help co-run)
- Kate Bosworth Web
- Kate Bosworth Forums

Take care!

Superman Update!

From here :-)

Superman bound for Sydney
By Jonathon Moran
April 01, 2005

TAMWORTH'S Hollywood fling came to an end this week with production on the latest Superman film moving to Sydney.

A property 45km outside the NSW township has been the base for the film for several weeks, transformed into a Kansas family home where a young Clark Kent grew up before taking on his Superman identity.

"We were really lucky with the weather," Superman Returns unit publicist Joe Everett told local newspaper the Northern Daily Leader before heading back to Sydney.

"Everyone is really pleased with filming.

"It has been a major operation and everyone is very pleased how things have turned out.

"It has been pretty hectic with most of the cast and crew working extremely long hours.

"We've had a number of night shoots so that has required a lot of planning. Overall everyone is pleased with how the shoot has gone."

Playing the Man of Steel, little-known American actor Brandon Routh arrived in Tamworth two weeks ago for filming.

He, along with co-star Eva Marie Saint, who plays Superman's earth mother Martha Kent, returned to Sydney today.

A buff 25-year-old Routh was signed to star in the reincarnation of Superman, due to hit screens in 2006, after an exhaustive search for an actor to fill the role made famous by Christopher Reeve, who died last year.

Director Bryan Singer, of X-Men fame, and producers Chris Lee and Gil Adler also returned to the production base at Sydney's Fox Studios today.

Other cast members include Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.

The cast and crew will enjoy a four-day long weekend before filming begins in Sydney next Tuesday.

Most filming will take place at Fox Studios but it is believed some inner-city streets will be closed off next week for production.

NSW state treasurer Andrew Refshauge yesterday put out a statement saying Warner Bros had given the green light to the production, a prequel to the hit 1980s films based on the super-powered character.

Dr Refshauge said the movie would generate more than $100 million for the NSW economy and create more than 10,000 jobs.

"It's going to be one of the biggest film projects ever made in Australia – bigger than the Matrix trilogy," Dr Refshauge said.

"This is one of the best examples of our international reputation as a film-friendly state."

Superman first hit the big screen when Reeve starred in the 1978 movie that also featured Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Marlon Brando as the superhero's father and Gene Hackman as his evil nemesis Lex Luthor.

Reeve, who became an international star with the huge success of the movie, reprised his high-flying role in two hit sequels, Superman II in 1980 and Superman III in 1983.

Sandra Dee Has Died at 63
As I wrote in an earlier entry last month Sarah and I saw "Beyond the Sea" a bio pic directed and starring Kevin Spacey. It depicted the life of singer Bobby Darin, who was big back in the 50's and/or 60's. Kate Bosworth plays actress Sandra Dee who was married to Darin. More info on all that can be found in the article below:

'Gidget' Actress Sandra Dee Dies At 63

By BOB THOMAS, Associated Press Write

LOS ANGELES - Actress Sandra Dee (news), the blond beauty who attracted a large teen audience in the 1960s with films such as "Gidget" and "Tammy and the Doctor" and had a headlined marriage to pop singer Bobby Darin, died Sunday. She was 63.

Dee died at 5:57 a.m. at the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, said Cynthia Mead, nursing supervisor.

Mead said Dee's family requested that no other details be released. CNN reported that Dee had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for two weeks for complications of kidney disease and pneumonia.

At Universal Studio, Dee was cast mostly in teen movies such as "The Reluctant Debutante," "The Restless Years," "Tammy Tell Me True" and "Take Her She's Mine."

Occasionally, she was able to do secondary roles in other films, such as "Imitation of Life," "A Portrait In Black" and "Romanoff and Juliet."

After a one-month courtship, Dee married Darin in Elizabeth, N.J., in 1960. A son, Dodd Mitchell, was born to the couple the following year.

In 1965, with her divorce from Darin dampening her teen appeal, Dee was dropped by Universal.

"I thought they were my friends," she said in an interview that year with The Associated Press, referring to her former bosses. "But I found out on the last picture ('A Man Could Get Killed') that I was simply a piece of property to them. I begged them not to make me do the picture, but they insisted."

Born Alexandra Zuck in Bayonne, N.J., Dee became a model while in grade school.

In a mid-career interview with The Associated Press, she explained her name change: "I used to sign vouchers and sign-out sheets with 'Alexandra Dee.' Somehow it stuck." When she was signed to her first film, she said, "'Sandra Dee' was the name they gave me."

Dee made an independent film "Rosie!" (1968), starring with Rosalind Russell, but her movie career dwindled after that.

In a March 1991 interview with People magazine, Dee said she was sexually abused as a child by her stepfather and pushed into stardom by her mother. Dee, who turned to pills and alcohol, said she hit bottom after her mother died in 1988.

"I couldn't function," she told People, adding that she began drinking more than a quart of scotch a day as her weight fell to 80 pounds. She said she stayed home almost constantly for three years.

Dee credited her son with helping her turn her life around. She began seeing a therapist regularly and hoped to land a job on a TV series.

Kate Bosworth portrayed Dee in last year's movie "Beyond the Sea," a biography of Darin.

Actor Kevin Spacey, who played Darin the film, has said Dee, who was living as a virtual recluse in Los Angeles, approved of the film. "She called me...and said she loved it," he said last year.

Celebrity Q&A: Bosworth busy as a Bee

Posted February 13 2005

Bosworth busy as a Bee

Now that she's broken up with Orlando Bloom, what lies ahead for Kate Bosworth, both on and off the screen?

Off screen, it's too early to say, since it's only a few weeks since the handsome couple ended their three-year romance. But it's unlikely that an actress this beautiful will be lonely for long.

Career-wise, Bosworth seems determined to keep busy. She has already completed the drama Bee Season, co-starring Richard Gere, and is working on Awake, a thriller with Jared Leto. Then, this summer, a new Superman will enter her life when she starts work on the $200 million epic Superman Returns, in which she will play Lois Lane opposite newcomer Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel and her Beyond the Sea co-star Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.
