Yo! This LJ is friends only because I want to know who's reading it! So please, drop me a line here if you friend me, unless you only want to read my public con reports, because if you don't introduce yourself and give me SOME reason to do so, I won't friend you back, simple as that!

UPDATE: Okay, guys, so my friend's list is starting to get a kind of ridiculously large... and in order to avoid a friends cut, I'm implementing a new rule. If you're not a cosplayer or a cosplay enthusiast, you can feel free to friend me, but please, don't ask me to friend you back. The reason behind this is that I created this LJ almost solely to interact with my cosplayer friends from around the country and talk about, for the most part, cosplay. So while you may find me to be quite interesting, scrolling past fellow LJers going on and on about their new boyfriend or the latest episode of The Hills just doesn't interest me. I end up scrolling more than I read, and that really has to stop. So please, feel free to friend me and enjoy my con reports, but if you aren't a cosplayer and mostly talk about your private life on LJ, please don't ask me to friend you back... ^^;;

So there was this con called Momocon. It's pretty small and I didn't bother to enter the contest and at one point, we were all trapped inside as a tornado warning swept across Atlanta, but hey, I don't judge, and I still had a pretty good time seeing friends I wouldn't get to see otherwise. Not to mention I got to do some of my favorite things which was terrible karaoke (in the form of Rock Band), staying with Mary and John at Ashley and Daniel's, and cosplaying with friends (especially Nana with Mer <3).

So on Friday I drove to Columbus (this time a little more successfully than the last), but I was definitely a few hours later than planned... this worked out for the best however, because if we HAD left for Atlanta on time, we would have become good friends with the tornado that ripped through the city a few hours before we drove through it! :D

So, soon after that, we left the con and met up with everyone again and I realized that I had accidentally left my normal shoes (and my... cell phone >_>) at Mer's place, so... I was kinda forced to either wear boots with thigh highs and garters (making me look like a hooker) or boots without socks (UGHHHHHH!!!! KILL ME.). I was totally up for the thigh-highs, but no one else wanted to walk around with a hooker, so black boots without socks it was... until I realized I had a third shoe option.... MY YOKO BOOTS!!! Since I was wearing a jean skirt, it totally seemed less awkward to me to pair it with white, flame-decorated boots than black ones. I also scrunched down my Chidori socks so that was no longer a problem. This made me lol, so I took a picture of it:


Secretly, I was hoping we would encounter some anime fan on the street who would go "HEY, are those YOKO boots?" and I could be like "LOL YEAH!!" but it didn't happen. In fact, it would probably never happen anywhere but at a con, though I am thinking of wearing them on the flight to LA for AX. Ya never know!

I'm really pumped about Memorial Day weekend because Mer, Matt, Ashley, Daniel Mary, John and Patrick are all coming to Gulf Shores and renting a condo! :3333 CANNOT WAIT. One thing I'm NOT pumped about though is the job hunt. Blockbuster is overstocked with employees, Andree's wasn't hiring, and Wintzell's is remodeling and looks all funky so I don't want to go back down there. In fact, I reeeeally don't want to work in the food service industry at all. @_@ But I need money. BAD. *continues the hunt* Expect some sales coming up soon.

So I ended up going to Fetish with Adrien/French guy/younger, tanner Zach Braff, and I must say, it = GREAT SUCCESS.


Not gonna lie, he is SO tan that I actually lightened his skin a bit in this picture. In reality, he makes me look damn ALBINO, and I am NOT pale.

Adrien doesn't photograph well, but OMG, take my word for it, SO cute. Seriously, after the party, multiple girls were telling me what an adorable catch he was. I think it's the accent. Works like a charm. All night, people were freaking out over his JD resemblance, and then they'd look at me, look at my badge, and be like "Hmmm, no good." To which my response was, "HEY, it's just because I'm not blonde!" PHOTOSHOP PROVES THIS!


Okay, this picture is a lie, I actually altered my nose, jawline and chin to look more like Sarah Chalke's. Which made me feel like I have a man-jaw. :( I'd never noticed before. Hahaha! As for going blonde in real-life, I'm still undecided. Cornelius, a theatre major who has actually done real fashion photography work, told me that the dark brown makes me look "Paris couture," whereas blonde would just make me look "California beach girl." DAMN ITTTT, if C says my hair color is high-fashion, I can't just ignore that!! I value fabulously gay black men's opinions over all others. :(

I have my most stressful final down (scene design), and 2 projects and 2 test-finals to go. Last night, I was up until 7 AM finishing my project, took a one hour nap, then headed to class. Everyone else more or less had the same story. lol In fact, Becky and I were in the design room together, working until 3:45 AM when we decided to go finish everything else at home. After we finished at 11:30, I came home and then slept until 5:30. It was AMAZIIIING.

As for the rest of my finals, one is a paper for Costume History due Monday critiquing/studying the costumes in The Mask of Zorro (the movie I picked. It's one of my favorites and I thought it'd be a good choice. :3). The other project due Tuesday is my Princess Aurora dress. XD And then on Wednesday, I have the big, bad Biology final AND World Lit final. Tuesday is NOT going to be a good night. lol

I didn't enter because it'd be silly to compete with Mer, so she entered both of us as a group entry... and strangely, we're listed as "aiuchi" even though she changed her username to Meru. XD Also, go congratulate her for being Acy's Pick for May! <3

SOOOoooooo ACE. Was fun. A+++ would do again. It was basically a very, very, very mini-Dragon*con, if D*C were only about comics and only locals cared. Yeah. XD It was also a fabulous excuse to see my lovelies, vampirate777, koneko, micarei, berryberryrose, and notusachan. It was also a weekend o' FREE because John and Daniel took pity on my poor, broke ass all weekend and bought me delicious food. Damn my lucky friends and their gentlemanly SOs! ;_;

Alright, so here's what happened: we got there, Mary, Ashley and I grabbed passes for the day, the guys left, we ran into our friends, signed up for the contest, toured the dealer's room (didn't buy anything except for some pocky that I got for the discounted price of one dollar! :D), went to get judged, were photographed, went on stage, won $75, was photographed some more, then left. AWESOME, huh??? It was like getting paid to cosplay and see friends. NICE. I doubt I'll be as lucky next year, but I'm willing to try again. I might take this as my opportunity to enter Aurora in a contect OR make a She-Ra costume. We shall see...

That night, we all went out to eat at this nice Mexican place where we all got free dessert because the waiter said he liked me. ;D (AKA, he felt sorry for me because I was the 7TH WHEEL. LOL) It made for a good celebration for Mary and I winning 2nd and 3rd, respectively. :D

So there ya go! Shortest con report EVER. I had more to say about freaking MOBICON. lol

As for a life update: today we had BFA tech auditions. Four other sophomores and I tried out, two stage managers, a scene painter, and a techie (and myself on costumes! ...I feel like I just listed the instruments we play in a band. XD), I reeeeally hope we all get in. We all probably should, as we have our ducks in a row. Though Mrs. Tracy definitely looked at me like I was DAMN CRAZY when I rolled in Yuuko on a dressform... I hope that was more a look of shock then "WTF WERE YOU THINKING, KATIE?"

P.S. I broke my computer chair in yet another area (stripped the screws out of the bottom) and because I like to sit on my chair in weird ways, I've fallen out of it and onto the ground like, 4 times now. Onto my ceramic tile floors. It HUUUUUUUUURTS. I need a new computer chair NAO.

P.P.S. This week, I need to hem a bridesmaid's skirt, finish sewing Mer's wedding present, finish Gundam Wing so I can return it to Ashley, clean my apartment for when Diana comes over, and all the while do shittons of homework. Thus, my LJing might be sparse... dare I say, a hiatus? I'll respond to the comments on this because they're emailed to me, but I won't be checking entries if I can help it. So peace out, cats!

After that, we changed into civs, and went out to eat at Panera (though I HAD to stop at a gas station for Diet Coke because Pepsi products = the scum of the earth). After eating and checking the internet on Nathan's iphone, we parted ways, and thinking I would see my girls in 2 weeks at AUSAM-Con, I wasn't sad about the con ending. Though, when Diana gave me an unusually long hug, I did not realize that it was because Nathan was pretending to spank me as I bended over for the amusement of the patrons who were watching us say our goodbyes through the windows at Panera. (HOLYCRAPSOMANYPREPOSITIONALPHRASES) Ahhh, good tiemz. See you guys at Anime South 2008! (Karen, leave that bf at home!! Room with us again!! <333)

In my humble, biased opinion, AUSAM-con definitely lived up to its phonetic name. I had a REALLY good time, even if 90% of it was spent in one room. lol For starters, I'll begin with pre-con Friday.

I got out of class at 10 AM (which is fricking SWEET), came home, and cleaned in prep for company/watched Fruits Basket. Sometime in the early afternoon, auburnkt arrived and we made a Walmart run, in which we both forgot to buy a few things we went there specifically for. XD I really do enjoy Walmart runs with friends.... grocery shopping, not so much, but Walmart runs are fun! Anyway, we got back, and chilled in my apartment, chatting and waiting for vampirate777 to get there. She arrived and when we heard from Tiffany that she probably would either be getting in late or the next day, we went ahead and left to eat at Niffer's. Niffer's was packed, so we went to Acapulco's instead. Good food was good! Good times were had!

That night, Mary and I worked on the Powerpoint for our cosplay panel the next day and watched Fresh Prince (the now official show of all my cosplay late nights!). We finished it and then chatted and went to bed at about 3... and I was in bed at 4 after my shower. @_@

ANIME WEEKEND ATLANTA 2007 CON REPORT!



So AWA started off with Diana coming in to Auburn on Thursday night! Yaaay! We grabbed some Jimmy John's for dinner and spent the night chit-chatting even though I kinda totally had a test that next morning. XD So I went to my 2 morning classes and let D sleep in. I thought I did alright on the test I didn't study for. I made a low B. :D Anyway, after I got back from class and finished packing, we headed out of Atlanta at like... 1? 2? Or something. I played chaffeur since Meredith gave me a ride back from D*C this year... And thus official began...

Overall, AWA 2007 = success.

Okay, official Death Note dub, you kind of fail. Light is a SOCIOPATH. NOT QUATRE!! While Brad Swaille would be PERFECT for Tamaki, he just can't pull off UBER SINISTER like Mamoru Miyano can. And OH SMACK, don't even get me started on L's voice. I hit mute whenever he starts talking. *TWITCH* Conversely, Naomi's dub voice is... well, WAS freaking perfect. Great casting on that one. Ryuk is decent enough, I suppose.

I watched the first episode of Rental Magica... has anyone on my FL seen this? Is it worth going on? I'm pretty picky about anime these days, so if it's closer to lame and generic than interesting and original, it's not worth my time. Rental Magica to me kinda seems copycatish and I'm not really one for Meganekos. For some reason, I just don't like em. I think it's probably some sort of deep-ridden hate that stems from MKR, when Fuu got the hottie and Umi (TALL GIRL) got NOTHIN.

Actually, this is getting WAY off topic, but I have feared glasses all my life. My vision started deteriorating in 5th grade, which was right before schools stopped giving eye exams. I still remember my last school eye exam. I couldn't even begin to tell the nurse lady what letters I was looking at, so I was just guessing what I THOUGHT they might be and hoping I was right. They actually made me go into the office for more testing and the nurse asked, "Are you aren't just saying the wrong letter so you can get glasses?" I wanted to CRY. I HATED the idea of wearing glasses. Once at summer camp, after finding out that one of the resident "hotties" had asked one of my friends, Ashley, to the dance on the last night, I remember asking, "Ashley?? But... I mean... she wears GLASSES..." and everyone just staring at me and saying, "...so?" That was kind of the first time it hit me that glasses did not = AUTO-FUG. Not that I thought Ashley was ugly, oh no, she was cute! I just never thought any GUY would be able to see past her glasses. How weird is that? XD;; I was a strange kid.

Anyway, I finished styling my Nana wig last night! I was too lazy to put on make-up at first, and just got this picture.

And I wasn't really digging the wig. Then I was like "GAHFINE." and put on make-up and a black shirt, and it just looked 99.9% more Nana-like.

AUSAM-CON 2008!

Okay, guys, this is my official recruitment/PIMP post for AUSAM-con 2008, the convention that the anime club of Auburn University (aka, where I gets educated) is throwing in January of next year. Check it, we're so official, we're listed on animecons.com! You know that's hot.

Anyway, I know that a few of you cosplayers on my friends list live close enough to be able to make it to this convention if you feel like coming, so is anyone in? :D Any girls that come are welcome to stay in my apartment Friday night (the night before) as well as Saturday if they don't want to make the drive early in the morning/late at night the day of the con (Sat). My apartment's not that big, but it'd be one hella fun sleepover! We could even all go out to eat together on Friday night! I'm an official staffer/panelist/contest judge at AUSAM-con, so unfortunately, if at any point during Saturday you wanted to go walk around Auburn, I wouldn't be available as a tour guide. I AM cool with playing host for tours on Friday/Sunday, though!

There WILL be a costume contest, so you cosplayers should come for a chance to add another award to your coslab!!! ROFL Sorry, inside joke. XD Anyway, if you're thinking "Well... I would totally go if I had a costume to wear..." then I will try my best to find a costume to lend you if you'd like. I am THAT desperate for other cosplayers! lol I'm debating recruiting theater kids to just stand around and model some of my shit. LOLOLOL I could see that now-

A note about small cons: AUSAM-con is probably going to pretty much be Momocon 2.0 if we're lucky. Aside from the costume contest disaster, I really had a great time at Momocon (which was only in its 3rd year!), so I really think AUSAM-con totally has the potential to grow tremendously if we get it off to a good start.

If you're coming or even just CONSIDERING it, please do the staff a huge favor and sign up on the forums. You don't have to make any posts or even browse, we're just trying to gather a rough estimate of how many people are interested. (Though I'd personally adore anyone who would head over to the Cosplay section and say what costumes they'll bring in the post I made. That would make you MY FOREVER GIRL.)

So uhh... this is a Dragon*con report? Nearly 2 months later. (But srsly, what's 2 months? :D)

For posterity's sake, I decided to repost my general impression from my first D*C last year as well as write a new one for this year. I think that juxtaposed they're even more interesting than alone.

(Abridged) Overall Impression of my first Dragon*con
. . .D*C was a very different experience. Sure, it wasn't my first sci-fi convention, as I'd already been to Megacon and Mobicon (why am I still counting this one??), but the atmosphere was unlike any other con I have EVER been to. While at a convention like AX, the mood is best described as "I love to cosplay," at D*C, it was "I love to have fun." I've also never seen so many drunk people at a convention... but of course, I knew that would be the case. XD I'd been warned prior to the con by Andrea that anime costumes weren't really appreciated at D*C, but I never really got that feeling. A lot of people seemed to appreciate my costume just for the costume itself- not being a fan or even having any idea of who I was dressed as. I got a lot of "Can I take a picture?" "Sure!" "Great! Now who are you supposed to be?"s XDDD It was kinda nice, actually. It certainly made people actually recognizing me that much sweeter. . . .I will probably be going back to D*C. I've even already started planning costumes. XDDD Teen Titans, anyone? Take a guess which character I want to do. :D

Overall Impression of my second Dragon*con
Once again, I can definitely say that D*C surprised me. I was even more fun this year than the last, though that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I had my two best friends there to hang out with. I also got to meet some celebrities, something I missed out on last year. More importantly, I'm ALREADY excited about next year. Now THAT is the sign of a good con. I hope I'll see you all next year!

Now, for those who haven't already heard, next year, Dragon*con just happens to fall on my birthday. Not just any birthday, my 21st BIRTHDAY. Hooooooly crap. I would LOVE to have a party, but since my hotel rooms tend to be cluttered by multiple suitcases and costumes all about the place, a room party doesn't sound too clever. THUS, I'm thinking about just standing upon something very tall at midnight Saturday and loudly declaring "IT'S MY 21ST BIRTHDAY!" and making THAT be my party. ROFL Everyone is welcome to attend, obviously. ;) I would say something insanely awesome like "FREE DRINKS!" but I'm ridiculously poor, so the liquor will be provided by the Hyatt bar at your own disposal. If you are at Dragon*con 2008, your ass better be there Saturday night to wish me a happy muthafuckin' birthday! :DDD

I am so exhausted and once again suffering from laryngitis. :P I also probably got about 4-5 hours of sleep every night this week, so pretty much looked like hell the whole con. But we won Best Group, so I guess it's all worth it. :D

D*C report coming soon... if I can remember it all... lol I'm so excited that the off-season has finally begun. I AM GOING TO WATCH ANIME UNTIL I GET TIRED OF WATCHING ANIME AND DECIDE THAT HAVING A SOCIAL LIFE IS FUN, TOO. I have soooo many shows to catch up on.

I am about to lose something very, very dear to me. Everyone keeps telling me that I should stop worrying so much about it. That I'm being silly, melodramatic, and absurd. It happens to everyone, they say, and I'm being immature by actually worrying about. But they don't understand. Once it's gone, obviously, you have to get over it. There's no going back. Ever. Well, I'm about to cross that precipice. IT'S NOT FAIR. Why? Why??

That said, I've been kind of a sucky LJer, lately, you guys. The last birthday I caught was itsmisstea's in June. I never did make a CG for velvy (BUT I WILL, DAMMIT!!!!), and I've missed a BUTTLOAD of people's birthdays between June and now. People who I remembered to wish a happy birthday in 2006!! @_@ I was just going to do a few people, but then that makes everyone else seem less significant... o_O So here we go! You guys. That shit was awesome. Despite losing my voice on day one, all the costume malfunctions/ghetto-ness, and being nicknamed REMAKE*CON, I had a BLAST and would list D*C '07 as one of my top favorite con experiences.

...It definitely helps that I met Elisabeth Rohm and was across the room from Neville and the Weasley twins while we waited in the private photo area for our prints to be made. :3 Though we couldn't take photos in the photo area, we managed to (literally) catch Neville on his way to lunch (we missed the Phelps brothers) and get a photo. But you'll have to wait til later to see those. :3

Before I talk about D*C, though, my AX report is 99% done and will be up TOMORROW.

I have class tomorrow at 8 and haven't done my homework yet. >_>

I'm asking a little more for her than I did for Sakura because those are some damn good synch clips. Seriously, I'm way more proud of them than the dress. XD The dress is really high-cut. In fact, its waist is actually higher than my own. That was back before I knew how to draft my own patterns, so I didn't think about how much I'd need to modify the one I found. Anyway, this will be cross-posted a lot. Sorreh.

I had to relist my Sakura costume because ebay took it down. They thought I was trying to be all shady and avoid extra ebay fees by saying "For an extra $10, I'll include the ninja sandals!" Ummm... I'm not an expert, but when the bid winner is paying, can't they manually input a higher amount to pay the seller??? I KNOW I've seen that option before after I've won bids.

Anyway, here is the relisted item, which cost me another $0.60 cause those bastards charged me for listing it the first time for a total of what, 2 hours??
