I was out for most of the day yesterday. First, I had to take my Sheltie out for shots and then had a short breakfast and coffee in North Vancouver. While there, we stopped by and discovered my Mom was all on her own since my father had gone sailing for the week with friends. We were going over to Granville Island to get the final supplies for my velvet devore burn out project and I also wanted to get more beautiful papers for my bowl making.
Took Mom with us. She has pretty bad arthritis and can't walk too far, but she really enjoyed the day, I think.

The first picture is of old Indian wood blocks for printing fabrics. I went through the wooden bowls and chose a beautiful paisley pattern. The second is just a view of the Japanese paper shop where I buy my supplies. It was funny being there yesterday since it was insane with tourists. Like being in Europe in high season or something. One Texas guy was saying to his wife, "Are you planning on wallpapering the whole state when we get home?" LOL! She was buying a lot.
While there I went through the drawers of handmade papers for bowl supplies and found a tiny capa shell box from Japan with these pretty birds on it. It's darling, so I had to buy that.
We went into the food market and bought feta, figs, blueberries and lavender honey and met up with someone who used to work with my husband. She takes the most amazing photographs. She gave us one on the house with an old barnacle-covered glass bottle washed up on on the sandy beach. It's lovely. Have to frame that for my husband's office.

This is the walk back to our car past condos that float on water. I've always wanted to live in one of these buildings. :sigh:

And more of the walk back to the car. See the palm trees? This is why it amuses me when people assume I live in an igloo or something because I'm in Canada. We have milder winters than most of the U.S. and Canada. It just rains a lot.
I hope to do something creative soon. I will put up pictures sometime of the papers I bought and maybe when I receive the stencils from France (knock on wood), the stages of the burn out velvet project. I'm going to have to lay down those curtains on my hardwood floor in my living room as a work surface. That's also where I grouted my outdoor mosaic table a couple of years ago, over spread out green garbage bags. ^^
