We have adopted my mother's kitten, Wednesday, as mummy dearest is back in rehab. She is a cuddly lil black-n-white princess, in fact she's squished up in my lap right now, licking my arm. She and Butters get along pretty well, he smacks her around when she gets too rambunctious, but doesn't try to murder her (although she does scream like he is), and I make sure to give Butters extra special Mommy-and-child attentions, so it's all good. :)l

I am so into Neil Patrick Harris right now. The him being gay makes him like a zillion trillion times more attractive. It's like gay squared.

Still alive. Going through some internal things. Such as feeling like I'm faltering in my identity as an autonomous adult, or at least what I project. Feeling like I depend on the kindness of a man way too much. And then a recent realization - brought about by a huge misunderstanding compounded by someone else's immaturity, where I retaliated in turn immaturely - that has led me to realize how competitive/dependant on the feelings/opinions of other people I can be.

And worse, I'm starting to see that I'm changing from someone self-contained and solitary to someone dramatic - because IRL being dramatic, and setting traps, and pretending is the only way I am heard. And that ain't right. Especially on my end.


None of this means I'm unhappy, btw, just that I'm all thinky and realization...y. Hmmm.

my neighbor Penny hit the monkey on the nose this morning when she proclaimed our current weather to be 'stupid'. It's clammy and windy and coldish - but just warm enuf that a winter coat would be too much.

I'm a bit sniffy cuz I'm a weirdo and wanted to go out in the rain yesterday. I'm glad I did, though, I got a nice big bacon and egg Caesar salad from Rachael's Nosheri and I didn't even have to fight my way through the riotous lunchtime crowd. I even got a table. :)

Then I went by the local yarn store and got a pattern and some pretty pink yarn, gonna make my new niece Simone a hoody. Plus got the circular needle I needed to pick up the last few rows of sleeve stitches on Grandma's sweater (I refuse to learn dpn's).

Picked up lavendar tulips for Grandma to enjoy, gotta rememeber to keep fresh cut flowers for her, they seem a lot cheaper this time of year.

Oh and got another 1/2 pound of the yummy organic chai, plus some Irish breakfast. Got sampled up too.

And omg I ordered my KnitPicks Harmony interchangable set this morning! *is bouncy* Now that I have all the needles I need I might actually bother to check gauge. :D

I forgot to mention, I was told today by the PSPCA guy (how convenient to tell me now) that the doggie was a loose stray before the PSPCA got her. How the hell could she have been determined to be housebroken, then? WTF. They strongly implied that she was a pre-owned drop-off doggie when we first saw/walked her, and being such an advocate of shelter animals ( I always try my best to dissuade folks from going to backyard breeders and pet stores for cats and dogs), I believed them. After all, they kept assuring us she was housebroken and reminding us to walk her. Why would they lie?

Just stood in the snow with wet hair for 30 minutes because I can't tie a short-hair outside until she does her business (which she didn't). She's hacking and coughing and and I believed them when I called them up and they said it was post-surgery effects, but now I don't. I'm going to make sure their vet actually sees to her before I drop her back off.

I'm donating all the supplies we bought for her (I'm not getting another dog for a long time, if ever), but after that, I'm never dealing with this particular shelter again, and never making the mistake of recc'ing them to anyone else, either.

Last night I went to the club, got kissed by some random hottie at midnight (she had drunk-breath, yuck) and got veryverydrunk. Luckily I have legs like steel rods and did not fall or stumble despite wearing four-inch heel boots - but there were a lot of casualties to hard drinking. I met some cool folks, which most always happens when I drink. Even though I was dressed to kill nobody asked me to dance except another femme who was there with her ex-stud, her eye makeup was fierce. I asked her if it was MAC pigment, she was pleased, because it was (been wanting to buy some from eBay) we ended up hanging for the rest of the night and talking shit about everyone else.

There was a group of sharply dressed tranny-ladies sitting at the bar near us, they had a good purse-watching system. Me and the other femme admired their heels.

There was a skeevy dude there in an army uniform, he ended up bothering this nice couple (two younger girls who looked like sisters, they were cold and asked me for a ride home if Joey came before their cab did, they were going my way) and almost making them miss their cab home. I kinda stood behind him as they politely humored him, and did the drunken pantomime of 'get away while you still can'.

I don't remember much after that...

Ok, here are some pics of my two dress choices. I admit, they became a bit of an afterthought once I'd found the shoes pictured. And then all the colorful dresses I could find were just not the right cut for my figure. I didn't end up buying vintage either, which is just as well, I'm convinced they just don't have any vintage dresses in my size, and it was starting to make me feel bad about being fluffy.

Anyway, what do yall think? Which dress should I wear to my upcoming formal?
