UFO Update: One Week Later
While at work on Tuesday, January 29, I received a telephone call from an investigator with MUFON, wanting to interview me as a follow-up to my report. That was cool. Since the events of last Saturday I have scoured the internet for reports from other witnesses and thought I would share some of what I found here:
JANUARY 26, 2008
"Driving northbound on the 57 freeway through Fullerton, we observe what appears to be a meteorite with a long and beautiful tail in the NE sky. When it does not disappear after 10-15 seconds we, as well as everyone else on the freeway are slowing and braking and seeing this object make a 90 degree turn. Then a second object appears and they both are moving strangely and not burning out and I am getting really excited and saying, "What in the heck is that!?!" to my friend, the driver of the car I am riding in. He is an FAA pilot and has seen many "shooting stars" before as well as pyrotechnics and confirms that we are not seeing fireworks. The two objects seem to burn out and disappear, then all of sudden flare up again and take off, only now there are three parts. Then all three parts disappeared from sight. I called 911 on my cell phone to report this and ask the dispatcher if there have been any other calls, but she does not know or won't tell me. Later I called the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. as well as KFI radio but no one had any information. I know many people driving witnessed this event. I posted a note on Craigslist. org to try and find others that saw this event and was contacted by someone in the city of Placentia who witnessed this from the ground and said it was a blimp-like flaming object."

"Me, my wife, and my mom were heading to the city of PLacentia to a local Mervyn's to shop when my wife shouted "oh my god! Look up there!" As I looked up in the sky I saw two star looking objects falling downwards like shooting stars. At first that's what I thought they were until they changed their direction of travel and moved right and left. What I seen that day I cannot explain and I am interested to see if anyone else saw the same thing I saw. What I saw that day I swear was unexplainable. My mom never believed in UFO's until that day she told me. The objects continued to zoom back and forth up there also gradually going down until they lowered behind a hill and we werent able to see them anymore. I recorded video of one of the objects on my camera phone. Its all I had to take video footage of the object. I need to know if anyone else saw these objects on this day. The surprising thing was there was a plane flying next to it."

"My mom was driving, and my dad sitting in the back seat, I was sitting in the front passengers seat, and we were going north on the 57 freeway towards Brea, and the traffic started to slow down significantly. I looked ahead, and then a big light (close to the apparent size of the moon) appeared high up in the sky. It looked as though it had a trail of sparks behind it, and it was very slow in its descent.
Then, it went out, but another one appeared, just like the first. It seemed to veer off to the right, in a twirling motion. It went out again, and there was a pause, for about 3-5 seconds during which I couldn't see any. Then two more appeared, and a third, and they continued to do the same things. One went out, and another two appeared. At this time there were about four or five in the sky at once, all doing the exact same things, except at progressively lower heights. As they got lower, the impression that they were trailing sparks became much more distinct.
Towards the end of (what I saw of) the event, there was one which seemed to be very close to the ground - not so close as I would think it a few feet from the ground, but close enough that I grew the genuine concern that it might hit our car, or hit the freeway close enough to cause a crash that would cause damage to us as a result.
However, this, too, disappeared from sight, as though it had burnt out and lost its light.
At first, I thought it was pieces of a satellite, as the trails of sparks that gave them their fiery looks seemed to suggest, and it's far too slow to be a meteor, at least any meteor I've seen. I would think that such a case would involve the objects falling faster, though, so I do have some questions surrounding this idea.
I felt pretty neutral beforehand, and was pretty shaken up during it, mostly relieved afterward that it hadn't caused us harm, whatever it was. I still don't know, don't think this is an extraterrestrial-controlled thing, but it is certainly very unusual (first thing I've seen like it, compared to any UFOs, stars, planets, meteors, satellites that I have seen), and I wouldn't rule this possibility out, particularly as I lack a better explanation as of this point."

"I was on my way to the HAT in Brea (off imperial hwy. and state college)to pick up some food for my family. I seen these lights in the sky and at first I thought it was maybe a couple of meteoroid rocks falling in the sky until they started actually going back and forth. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, then I seen one of the lights disappear and then the other, within a few seconds they both reappeared. I had called my boyfriend at 5:50p.m.and told him what I seeing, he didn't believe it. I really thought I was seeing things and when I pulled into the HAT parking lot I seen all these other cars parked and staring into the sky. The objects seem to keep falling down and I had noticed what seemed to be a plane circling around them and then they just pretty much disappeared behind the trees. I really don't know what it was but it kind of freaked me out. I watched the news all night and didn't see any reports about it."

"Last nite at 6pm we were travelling west on the 91fwy. My wife said "what the hell are those" and i looked and saw a small plane and two bright lights. At first I thought they were passenger jets lining up for LAX. But they dropped sharply down so I pulled over at the St College exit to watch these UFOs Looked like fireballs with firetrails. One extinguished itself but the other one kept on. there was a helicopter circling (could have been a small plane) these UFOs. The one that disappeared, reappeared. They then moved sideways, stopped, hovered and then moved sideways again. Then after about 90 seconds they disappeared. The small plane/helicopter then flew overhead towards Costa Mesa/Newport Beach direction. It was surreal."

"I was driving north bound on the 57 fwy heading towards Yorba Linda when I saw 2 meteorite like objects falling in the NW sky. I also saw what it looked like to be a plane flying around in the same general area. During the event the glowing tails coming from the 2 objects seemed to turned off and then resumed again after a short period of time."

"Driving westbound on Bastenchurry in yorba linda between fairmount and lakeview, I was looking straight ahead and noticed three lights in the sky at, what I assumed was close to, LAX. (Final approach to LAX runs parallel to bastenchurry) I saw 3 lights close together, the first light was stationary, while the other 2 lights next to the first light were streaking straight down...not horizontal like a meteor but straight down. I could not stop the car and watch. So when I got home I checked the news and called my brother-in-law, who is a sheriff, and asked him to check with his station. As of 6:55 he has yet to call me back. I don't think it was a UFO but I thought I just witnessed a mid air colisio't n between to aircraft. I haven't heard anything so maybe it was something else.
But it looked very real."

"My girlfriend and I were driving north on Rose in Yorba Linda. When I noticed a meteor like object in the sky. I thought it was a meteor. Another appeared soon after I noticed the first. I then thought it might be a satellite entering earth orbit. They both seemed to burn out the reignite at different intervals. They both left a fire trail as a meteor would. They also changed direction. They appeared to be going in circle for a little bit. My girlfriend says that one object appeared triangular. We watched them for about 3 minutes. They then burned out or just went beyond our field of view."

"Was driving down Yorba Linda Boulevard with two others in the car and we saw two orange ovals in the sky. It was very dark and had been raining so the clouds were low. There were two airplanes overhead, one of which began to circle the area as the objects were hovering around.
The objects hovered around for about 3 minutes. They would remain stationary for short periods, then rotate and move. You could tell they were rotating as they moved because a short trail was left behind them. Note that the trail and glow was some sort of orange energy, very similar to a mercury lamp on the street.
They would also turn on and off intermitently. We were able to study them as we drove down the street. There were a lot of cars so I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few more reports on this one. Note that I also posted on the ufocenter.org website.
Lastly, as one of them moved down pretty low, it turned off and reappeared over the other one. Wild stuff."

UFO Over Orange County, California
Oh, my god...oh, my god...
I've just seen my first unidentified flying object. It appeared first as a bright light in the sky seen from my living room where I was watching the film Breech on HBO. Upon going outside to investigate, I saw what I at first thought was some kind of pyrotechnic leave a ring of flame against the dark stormy sky some distance from the source of the bright light I had seen through the window -- a brilliant oval of light, saucer-shaped, moving slowly in a north by northwest direction. A small private or commuter plane appeared to be circling or following the slower-moving object. Occasionally a ring of fire would appear to encircle the bright ovals perimeter, like some kind of fiery exhaust blast. I ran inside to get my camera and when I returned I barely had gotten the lens cap off and flicked the ON switch when the "saucer" moved beyond my field of view and I never saw it again. This whole episode lasted about a minute and a half. The lone plane continued to circle the sky in that direction for several minutes and then turned to the south east.Sat, Jan. 26th, 2008, 09:27 am
