2:38 pm - ... and so it ends
|
My grandmother who has been under Hospice care for two months now, died peacefully with my mother at her side, this morning at 2:45 am.
My mother called to give me the news as I was on my way to a birth.
I have only had six hours sleep total (in three, 2 hour increments) since Wednesday morning. Even though we have been waiting for her to pass it is still a shock. I got through my morning of seeing patients without letting myself think about her too much. I knew if I started crying, with as little sleep as I have had, I would not stop.
I am going to miss her very much - but I am glad she is no longer suffering. Please keep my family in your prayers. We can now - after two months of holding our breath, begin grieving.

9:59 pm - So I have been really procrastinating...

As many of you know, my son Matt has Juvenile Diabetes. We are doing a walk for cure sponsored by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on March 29th.
I have been hesitant to do much fund raising as I typically hate that kind of thing...
however, this is so important to my son and I need to do my part in helping to find a cure. So though it is last minute, it is not too late if anyone wants to help. No donation is too small.

Today I received notice from the Department of Health. I am now a Florida Licensed Midwife (midwife number 210).
I received my national certification (Certified Professional Midwife) last month... so now I am officially -
Hope Terrell, LM, CPM
It is all very surreal.

... and I have school tomorrow - ick. I must finish my pile of homework tonight.
I only have four more days of classes... one tomorrow... two next month and one day in August.
The knowledge that it is almost over is the only thing that is keeping me pushing forward. I feel like I am in transition... and just don't think I can do anymore... and really want my damn epidural!!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I will not be making it to the club tonight for Xelana's birthday or the gothic prom. I have spent the last couple of days coughing... and tonight has been really bad. Took the kids to see Spider Man 3 and spent most of the movie hacking. My chest is sore and my head hurts... and the coughing has left me exhausted.
I am also very PMS-y and cranky and would not be good company.
... and honestly, I am over the club these days - and was only considering going because it was Xelana's birthday and I love my friends. I have no interest in the Gothic Prom or Yearbook.
So I wish Xelana a very happy birthday and I am sorry I will not see you along with everyone else making it out tonight. I am sending my husband in my absence... present in hand.

... I figured I would take a moment to wish a very, very, very Happy Birthday to the lovely Ponte' - who I love dearly. You are a wonderful friend and I am so happy you are in my life.
St. Patricks Day has held a lot of heartache for me in the past - but now it has become a day of reflection of the things I cherish the most.
I delivered my 46th baby at 1:43 am. :)
It is good to be Irish.

10:04 pm - Tomorrow
|
Tomorrow I have to go to Kent Campus for my Online College Algebra Mid-term exam. I took the practice test today and did fine... but I also had the book to refer back to if I needed.
So, I am a bit nervous, but have done all I can to prepare for his exam.
This math course is still difficult to keep up with as it is so fast paced and so much work. I have discovered if I do a little bit EVERY NIGHT... I can keep up.
Sooooooo... when spring break goes into effect for FCCJ, the online system also goes down for 5 days. I will use those five days to catch up on my midwifery homework that I never have time to do, due to the math.
Up to 44 catches, with 6 more needed for my license. This semester I am finding I have fierce motivation to complete assignments and study, like I have never had before.
Largely this is due to the fact that I just want to be done. If this program went on for another year, I do not think I could do it. I am so glad the end is in sight. Five more months.
If I do well on my mid-term and do not get called out to a birth... I really want to make the Cruxshadows show tomorrow night. Hope to see you all there.
I am now going to put on my pajamas and watch some mindless t.v. before going to sleep.
