Wow...so... I graduate in less than 24 hours. Surreal.

I also think I have a job, doing surface design and toy concept design at a toy company in Rockville. COOL SHIT. If you check out my blog, ( http://areabee.blogspot.com ) you can see the mock-up designs I sent them. They're pretty fucking cute.

Also, y'all should peruse my website ( http://rebeccabastian.com ) because I updated it with all my adorable stuffed toys, like this one -

Awwww, hello Lloyd. You're so cute...

So yeah, that's pretty much all I've been up to. Thesis, interviewing for jobs, and making cute shit. Oh, and buying comics like I can afford to. Which I can't. Yet. PLEASE JOB PLEASE.

CALL FOR YOUR EXPERTIZES [02 Feb 2008|08:14am]
Hey, all!

LIke most of you that I know IRL, I'm graduating in May -eek! And I am compiling a directory of Art Directors from magazines, other publications, etc.

SO.

I have a request, since my friends list has such an amazing and eclectic set of interests. If you please, would you check the credits list of your favorite magazine/alternative publication and in the comments here post the a) Name of the Art Director and b)Snail mail address listed either specifically for the art director or if not available, for the magazine?

Each unique Art Director submitted will earn the love of me and a personally illustrated postcard of gratitude. (no promises are made as to the content of illustration. you may well be terrified.)

Ask me to take pictures of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about -- it can be anything from my favorite shirt to my cell phone. Leave your requests as a comment to this entry. I'll snap the pictures and post them as soon as I can.

(fun with memes!)

Not much going on here except busy, busy, panic, busy.

Made-up meme [18 Nov 2007|01:02pm]
So, I was having a conversation with my lovely friend Hannah about what our dream room would be - the room you would want in your house that would just be PERFECT.

Mine is a medium-sized room that doubles as a studio and a library - built in wall shelving (possibly a cherry wood), huge windows. Light turqouise/teal walls and hardwood flooring. I have my drafting table and my sewing machine in there, with a big easy chair to read in.

And I got curious about what other people's might be. So please, comment about it : )

New Shows that You SHOULD WATCH [03 Nov 2007|09:20pm]
Ahem. New shows that you should watch ARE :

Chuck

-A normal geek (who looks a lot like Jim Halpert...) becomes a spy when he accidentally has a zillion billion gigs of CIA/NSA/ETC information downloaded into his brain. Wonderfully funny and sweet, and also has Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly/Serenity) playing an awesome, very grumpy federal agent that has to essentially babysit Chuck.

Aliens in America

-A muslim exchange student comes to live in the midwest. Hilarity ensues. (Seriously.)

Bionic Woman

-Okay, so I only watch it because Starbuck from BSG is in it and I MISS MY BATTLESTAR, OKAY? Otherwise, it's an ok show but nothing special.

How I Met Your Mother

-This show is not new, but apparently no one knows about it - I think this is because it airs at the same time as Heroes. HOWEVER. It is severely underappreciated. The plot is as follows - Ted, the main character, is telling his kids a very long, convoluted story about how he met their mother. We see them periodically in flash forwards, very bored and etc. Most of the show takes place in present time (Ted's past), and has a wonderful cast of characters including Alyson Hannigan (Willow from Buffy) and Neil Patrick Harris.

Three words : "Slap Bet, SWARLEY." Also, Moooooiiiiist-tuh.

Da News [28 Oct 2007|09:10am]
Woooo! Okay, so I had some computer ~issues~ recently and they were resolved with me buying a new computer. Which is a beautiful white MacBook running LEOPARD, bitches. I can video-chat now and the new OS's interface is just simply lovely, especially the use of stacks for downloads because I can just go click, pull up, click, voila my torrent is downloading. Sexy beast - so much so that the sexy beast's name is - wait for it - Jayne.

I still have my Hokusai background because hey, I love it so.

Thesis is...going. I rebooted and am no longer doing fashion because it was making me pissy and miserable. Instead, I am doing a pinup book/calendar of geeky/nerdy girls. Rawr. It's kind of what I wanted to do the whole time, so I'm happy now : ) I wasn't really able to get any work done on it this week due to my computer issues, my scheduling issues, and etc...

But yeah! I have officially signed up for my last (LASTOMGWHAT) semester of classes as an undergrad. Eek. No more teachers, no more books, no more rent paid by my parents.

The love life = excellent. My mom likes Andy so much I think she wants to date him. Which is kind of weird.

Ow, why did I drink that energy drink Steve gave me? I am so awake right now and feeling productive, but caffeine hurts my stomach.

Speaking of stomach, I really need to work out. Ugh, fatness. And don't tell me I'm not fat - I know that. It's preventative.

Post of retardedness [22 Oct 2007|11:45pm]
Alanis Morissette's 'Jagged Little Pill' CD continues to be relevant to me. Currently, I've realized that my my past relationship was EXACTLY relevant to 'Not the Doctor'... yeah, I'm a sucker for angry girl music.

I think maybe she had just broken up with someone similar to 'la ex' when she wrote the songs for the CD.

lyrics because I'm a whore )
