Radio ads

Three hundred, sixty-five degrees.
I can't believe I never shared these.. for my first audio engineering class I had to make 6 radio ads. They're all 30 seconds long and in my not-terribly-humble opinion pretty fucking funny. If there's a version of narcissism for comedy, I'm guilty.

The first one needs no introduction:

Most people would be too ashamed to admit they made this.. but I am not most people.

Next, an ad for everyones' favorite-- boobies.

If you're still listening to these-- Awaken Bacon.

And last and probably least, the first thing I ever recorded. Featuring me pretending I know how to sing four-part harmony. Twenty geek points if you can name the movie it's from.

What's going on with the playlists and multiple tracks and whatnot? Beats me! Yay!

when people ask who I am
I just want to say
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah-chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk chk

I am process
just a time ticking-trickling forwards

a time of transition
like life, so short and fast
i know this will end
and I will destroy on its way

chk chk chk chk chk chk.

chk chk chk chk chk chk chk.

remember where you were
remember where you are
and remember where you want to be

i want to lose this mind
and see what I might find
reduce to flesh, body body flesh
to lose this lost in understanding
this is my dying wish

sometimes I wish I were you
so that I could to two
minds that struggle
towards the same end
we all struggle towards the same end
and we're all wrong
about what that end should be

should be, should be

I'm trying to change into
who I was
who I am
who I need to be

need to be,
a need to be

I just need influence
we're all a need to be
influence

sweetjesus I need to get back into music

Three hundred, sixty-five degrees.
I almost stumped the internet trying to find a large quantity of precut cardboard hexagons. After much a-googlin' I managed to find a seller on ebay.au who had about what I was looking for and they pointed me at their website. And thankfully, the .au dollar isn't destroying the .us dollar. (And it seems that $1USD is equivalent to 1,088,061 Zimbabwe dollars. That can['t] be good.)

There was one time that I did manage to stump the internet: a search for elbow fucking fetish porn. But we won't get into that now.

Ingrid's parents saw my paperwork from an urologist and her dad was quick to give me a "Now let's not do anything rash." talk. Sorry Joe, we were serious about that not-having-kids thing. If the urge ever really hits, we'll probably adopt.

Also Joe, I just bought that half-pound of cheese four days ago! You eat like a teenager! (Although, in his defense, he works construction and doesn't know how to sit down in his free time so he's certainly burning all those calories.)

things I want to see in rock band

Three hundred, sixty-five degrees.
First of all, Rock Band: Beatles. Don't let the guitar hero folks steal this from ya. I want this, everyone wants this-- those three little words just scream "please give me millions of dollars". You're the innovators, you deserve this.

And it goes without saying to anyone who read this journal on a regular basis how much I'd shit myself for Rock Band: Talking Heads.

Second of all, fix the drum samples that are used before the song and during solos. You guys get access to the master recordings, right? A perfect .wav file with all the right effects already applied to it, you don't have to isolate anything-- just take a sample of the kick drum, snare and whatnot from that song and use those sounds instead of the painfully MIDI ones that never sound natural when they suddenly hit instead of the expected recorded sounds.

Third, I'd like a "tone deaf" option for singers and an equivalent "I suck but want to play" option for all instruments. Sometimes, esp. when first learning how to play or very drunk, you just want to do your damnedest and not worry about how close you really are-- sometimes you don't want a challenge and after all, games are made to be fun. This would be pointless in 'game mode' but awesome for quickplay.

Last, duets or at least multiple mics for backup vocals.

But mostly-- thanks for giving me an excuse to sing loudly in my living room.
If you think all this is overhype:
Watch that and tell me this isn't going to make music better over the next 20 years. Learning the basics of rhythm and how to play an instrument is now a game. GO KID, GO!
