Sat, Jul. 5th, 2008, 08:04 am first burn*
*last night was my first burn as a participant. fire fans are made of awesome and if you can dance and be mindful that flames go up when you hold them downward, success is not that hard. :) thanks to all who made this possible. i think the crowning glory was having collide's 'wings of steel' play when i worked up the courage to take a fan in each hand (vs. just one). it was perfect. there are photos maybe? i'll check this out. i was thinking of dancing and not setting myself or anyone else on fire. seishino was also talked into burning too. he's had all of those years of staff training through martial arts. it paid off beautifully. thanks to rynsect for the staff-lending. next time we'll find him a bandanna as apparently his hair likes to singe. it was really an exhilarating experience and one that i'd like to do more. i was encouraged to try fire staff since i do know bits to do with it but declined since i know how damned often i can feel myself brushing my legs when i have it behind my back. i told them i would later when i didn't *know* i would set myself aflame. so yes yes, spin-jam here seishino and i come. :) a favorite exchange: - you smell great - what? fuel and sweat? - yeah - *smile* yeah.

the weather knew that i rode my bike to harvard square for lunch today... omg the rain. Tue, Jun. 17th, 2008, 09:45 am same random thought from more than one source
this is hysterical because right now in my very own apt. i have a poster or two hung up the same way. i am doing it, not to be fashionable really, but to get the posters to uncurl from being rolled up before i actually go hang them somewhere. it was just a really random thing that i did once upon a time when i was given a long, thin poster that i didn't know where to put but wanted to keep it nice. so, more for storage (like i was thinking of actually hanging it with my clothes in my closet in lieu of rolling it up). but hey, i was unintentionally cutting-edge trendy and thrifty. who knew? it just seemed to me like a random idea and i'm somewhat surprised that other people had it simultaniously. (or i'm being spied on!)

i am getting so relatively little done this week. i'm blaming it on the heat. thank gods i'm on vacation. laziness seems fitting rather than lamentable. Mon, May. 5th, 2008, 11:05 am bed/futon exchange
so, for years i've used a futon from as a platform bed and recently (less than a year ago) acquired a full sized beauty rest mattress for it. this mattress has always been completely covered by an impermiable, waterproof mattress cover.
now that seishino and i have moved in, my futon will actually be mostly used as a couch/sometimes guest bed and i am in need of a real futon mattress so that i can fold it up. does anyone have a full sized futon (or foldable- latex mattresses fold well too) mattress that they'd like to upgrade to something with springs and trade with me?
i'm looking for something in reasonably good shape as it will be a functioning couch and sometimes guest bed. Fri, Apr. 25th, 2008, 04:08 pm Someone with a vehicle that can carry a wardrobe??
Hey all, I would like to buy a wardrobe from a guy who lives in Kendall Square and my only issue is how to get it back to my place in Central. The dimensions are:
Width: 58 1/4 " Depth: 24 3/8 " Height: 72 7/8 "
It does come apart with an allen (sp?) wrench but if I don't have to take it apart, I'd rather not. Could anyone spare a little bit of time and a large vehicle to help me get it to my place? Tomorrow preferably. There would be compensation in some way, shape, or form. Please give me a call or text on my cell if you could. Thu, Apr. 24th, 2008, 02:22 pm Fit this into your busy schedule! i feel totally cheesy but seishino and i are going on a fancy-ish date tonight and i'm all excited. :> i haven't done anything this kind of formal in a while. we're going to grab a drink and a small bite at radius and then probably switch gears and head to the movies. i had been thinking of going to see 21 but then i looked at what's in the theaters and hadn't seen my blueberry nights before. wong kar wai has made a film in english and set in america. i'm intrieged to see it (tonight or some other time). i've been warned by reviews that it isn't as good as in the mood for love but it also looks (from the trailer) like it has a lot of elements of a wong kar wai film that i really enjoy- lush colors, full emotions. it'll be interesting to see how it works, culturally. i want to see.
Tue, Apr. 8th, 2008, 02:28 pm it's officially official!
:D seishino and i have a home. it is across the wall and down a floor from where i live now. i will have the pleasure of moving everything i own a short distance which probably means very few boxes and a trillion trips back and forth. yay for stair training for springtime. thanks to an agreement with the lovely and talented sirendipity, i will have half a month to get all of my stuff moved and old quarters cleaned but seishino will likely be doing a one-day-move like you do. he doesn't have a ton of stuff but some of it is furniture (like a queen sized bed) that we'll need a hand with. official move in date is may 1st but that's a weekday so maybe the following weekend??? we'll have to check with the people moving into his old place. but yes, i forsee us both needing some furniture moving help and the help will definitely be rewarded. (i have an industrial sewing machine that needs to just go across a porch and down 1 flight of stairs so i might not hire professionals but maybe pay friends with cashes or hot tubbing or something since it weighs so damn much. then again it might be easier with more than me + 1 other person.)
Mon, Apr. 7th, 2008, 10:27 am planet b-boy is still @ the kendall square cinema!
and you should go see it. i have yet to see a more exciting and compelling documentary about breakdancing and what it is becoming. the stunts are phenomenal and the dancing is brought closer to heart by a look at the people in the teams and even sometimes their families who have mixed feelings about it all. it's amazing to see what people can accomplish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpntYFfVoQUoh, and did i mention the stunning international backdrop? anyhow, now i want to be involved. as i'm not sure about one-armed-push-up handstands, maybe i'll see about going to a qualifying battle here in the u.s. Fri, Apr. 4th, 2008, 10:58 am i hope this isn't pre-emptive
i'm moving! i am like 90% sure where. (i just need the landlady to confirm everything.) i am all excited. as of may, seishino and i will be living in sin and trying to figure out how to reconcile home decor aesthetics. i'm not worried. this will rock. oh yeah, and we'll have some of the best neighbors ever.

i really wanted to listen to a yet to be released song called the bomb but in the meantime, here are some bitter:sweet songs and remixes that you can stream for your listening pleasure. http://www.bittersweetmusic.com/ (go to the music section) ah, and for a clip of the song i really wanted to listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCvZd5aDb5I
Wed, Mar. 26th, 2008, 12:46 pm fake pandas have more fun
wow. threadless and blik have teamed up to make wall decals. once the home deciding goes on i think seishino and i have to sit down and figure out how one of these (at least one) will go with our new decor. if not specifically one of the threadless ones, i love a lot of the wall decals on the blik site. http://www.whatisblik.com/walldecals.html

la la la. if anyone knows how to drum up some good luck please send me some this week. something exciting might just happen. if it does, i'll give details. in other news, who made it spring and why does the weather need to play catch up?
Thu, Mar. 13th, 2008, 12:06 pm Future Fleece shirt for auction @ the Benefit for Paisley tomorrow (Friday) night!
I just wanted to note that I am donating one of my women's fleecey shirts for the auction to benefit Paisley Rojagato. So here's a perfect opportunity to be stylish while helping an amazing woman get back on her feet. The shirt is a medium-sized black wrap style hoodie with textural external stitching and a red furry fleece-lined hood. This dark overshirt provides cozy elegance and flatters a variety of figures. Benefit for injured cyclist 3/14 at the Dilboy Benefit Party for Paisley Rojagato Friday, March 14 9pm-midnight Suggested donation: $20, or pay what you can Dilboy VFW, 371 Summer Street Davis Square, Somerville, MA Event organizer: Regina Harrison badriya@rcn.com, 781-325-3039 In December 2007, while commuting to work in Boston, avid cyclist Paisley Rojagato was hit and dragged several feet by a truck. Her bicycle helmet saved her life, but multiple serious fractures, including to her pelvis, have left her unable to work for several months. The bills have not stopped while her life has been on hold. Join Paisley's friends on March 14, 9pm-midnight, at the Dilboy VFW in Davis Square for an evening of performances by local musicians, dancers, poets and other artists, open floor dancing, silent auctions and other entertainments--it's an old-fashioned rent party! All proceeds will go to help Paisley keep her housing and pay her bills while she literally gets back on her feet. ( more information )

i am back and owe someone at least a track listing to my mix cd that they got in the swap this past weekend. it was a red one full of music that makes me dance. leave a comment and/or i might just post a track list when i get home and have it handy. amazing how back to work can feel good. yay familiar routine. speaking of which, climbing tonight will feel really good too. hooray for the kick off of team jellyfish factory. silly me joined a climbing league team. we'll see what kind of good/bad idea this is in the weeks to come. oh, and rockstars wear my clothing. ( see: skulls sleeves )Sun, Mar. 2nd, 2008, 11:42 pm
damn them and their awesome triplet bass drum playing. these thoughts were just not in my head before.
Wed, Feb. 27th, 2008, 10:14 am it's almost almost spring
thanks to everyone who has been and is buying fleecy shirts from me. it's fun to make them and get to explore new designs with the different requests that different people make. while i am still happy to wrap myself up in polar fleece for the time being, i do recognize that soon (maybe not soon enough, but soon) it will be nicer out and i am looking forward. i've picked up some lighter weight fabrics and am playing around. i'll post photos soon!
Thu, Jan. 31st, 2008, 12:14 pm obsession
this site is my new obsession- http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/some days i get so amused that my nesting hormones are making me long to do things like find old chairs that have wooden arms and need reupholstered seats so that i can refinish them and pick some awesome modern fabric to recover them in. or repaint and old bookcase or cabinet and outfit it with lighting and barware and a wine rack to have a drink cabinet. oh the things i would do all the time if i were idle and rich. (and i'll make time to do them now too, but i am constricted by time, space and money.)
