The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.

I received this in a newsletter I subscribe to and thought it was something I should share around:

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage in below ground tanks. The colder the ground the more dense the fuel.... when it gets warmer petrol expands, so when buying in the afternoon or in the evening your litre is not exactly a litre. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products, plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business but the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more fuel you have in your tank the less air is occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every litre is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a fuel truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy, DO NOT fill up. It is most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.Hope this will help you get the best value for your money. Now I don't know about you guys, but when I'm in the 2nd hand bookstore and see a book with a title that says "Who cut the cheese? A cultural history of the fart", well I who am I to pass that one up?

I got my car! Yippeeeeee!! I love it, it's so cute, it looks like a little bug! I get so excited when I can get into a carpark I wouldn't have been able to even look at with the Ford hehehe! I've just got back home after starting back at PUMP so as soon as I have recovered the use of my legs (!) I'll do it.

Am I a terrible person that this, in the latest nigerian-scam email I was sent made me laugh?:

"Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next 4 months due to a rare form of cancer of the pancreas. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke."

Rachel and Brett were married at Oakdene. They're a great couple and their wedding was so much fun!

Mark and Liz are a lovely, lovely couple! I shot Liz's cousin's wedding a few years ago and we also went to the same primary and secondary schools, though she was a year below me. Geelong is such a small place, I swear, every wedding I book we always find at least someone we know who we have in common!
