ok, so its been 1 million years since I talked to anyone... Hi all, Still in Germany. The snow is finally gone, but it is still freezing at night. Since October 3, I have a nephew, Kyle Bond. Since December 19, I have an adorable neice Heidi Petree. (NIce of the twin sisters to get knocked up at the same time, huh?) That is why I came to the States at the end of January for 11 days. I was sick as a dog for 9 of those days. NOT FUN!!! I have been married to Thomas since Feb 24. We went to Vienna over the weekend of April 1. It is sooo beautiful there, if you ever have the chance, definitely GO!!! Besides that, I didn't drive a car from Nov 17 until I got my license on April 7. THIS YEAR I HAVE TO LEARN TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW. I have my German driver's license and my permission to work, but no job yet. Thomas has been working in Switzerland alot this year. He has been home for maybe 6 weeks this year. We are making serious bucks, but I am learning to be alone alot. I am really happy for you, Ryan and Krisie, and your new family. Your dogs are sooo cute!! @ atomicscooby, hang in there girl! I think about you all the time. Hi to Laurie and you owe me a phone call!! ;) Hope everything is better with Stacey and the new baby. That is about it. You are now up to date on the happenings in Germany. World Cup is coming in like 50 days. Its getting to crunch time now and the Germans are counting down. Take care!! The longer I am here... ...the more I realize that Germany is just like the States (except for the language part) :) Last week, was Opa's 70th birthday. (Opa = Grandpa) After 50, there is a big party at 60, 70, 75, 80 and so on. So all is ready to go for the party on the 19th. A ton of relatives, food, music the works! As we (Oma, Opa, Thomas' parents, Thomas and I) were at Opa's for birthday dinner, we get a phone call from the owner of the restaurant saying there is a long-standing appointment for all the soccer fans on Saturday that is going to bump into our party, did we mind the soccer fans staying into our time? Our answer: yes. 99% of our guests do not smoke (and would prefer not to be around smoke). So, now we do not have a place for the party, but have 2 housefulls of people staying over-night to celebrate with Opa and only 2 days to find a replacement venue. Thomas' mom had to scout out 2 other places before she found one for the party. This is a classic situation that happens in the States too. I feel better knowing that this is a situation that happens every where in the world, not only in New Mexico or Texas. The party was a lot of fun. Germans are soo cute when they get together. The tell jokes, act in skits and the musician plays and also has jokes and skits. It is really fun. The world only gets smaller for me!! Interesting developments... Remember the good 'ol days when you get stitches, have them removed, then you make a really cool cover story for the scar... Well, I have no cover story, because the actual story is sooo much better! hahaha *evil grin*. I went to have my stitches out yesterday, and I thought it was completely normal for my finger to be red, hot and hurt. NOT SO, it turns out. I now have (well, have had) and infected finger all week. Good Times!! I have been to the doctor yesterday and today, it is healing, but not fast enough for me! Note to self: the 'E' in EMT is for 'emergency'. That means Thomas is ONLY right in emergency situations: he thought nothing was wrong with the infected appendage!!! It wasn't until we were having dinner with one of his EMT friends (also called Thomas), that the other Thomas told me it was infected. I had the appointment to have the stitches removed the next day, so I waited. The doctor was not to happy with that! I now am on antibiotics and have to change the dressings twice a day until the red is gone. I am under strict orders that I must return to the doctor the moment anything turns bad. CAN NOTHING BE EASY FOR ME????? This whole situation has turned into a pain in the finger! :))) Current Mood: cynical | | Thursday, September 1st, 2005 | | 5:24 pm |

I really don't like blood... So everything has been going really well. We had a great time on our mini vacation last weekend. Then we come home and something goes haywire. I would like to preface this next part with: I really don't like seeing blood, but especially don't like seeing MY own blood. Thomas and I are cooking in the kitchen, all is under control until I get to the last tuna fish can. Ok, so I got in a fight with the tuna fish can and it wins. My pinkie finger on my right hand has 2 stitches and I can't get it wet for another day (3 days total with no water on the finger). The best part about all this is, I saw Thomas' EMT skills. I nearly passed out after seeing the gash in my finger (I got really dizzy and hot right away) and he was right next to me the whole time. Nothing was really making any sense to me except when he kept telling me to breathe and sit down. So I had my first visit to a German doctor. He was really nice (yes, even though he gave me two shots in the said finger for numbing purposes). I get the stitches out next Thursday. Damn tuna fish!!! I was heckled by Thomas and his dad later: "Man, this is good tuna and little finger in this food!!!" hahaha Thomas begins work in a week, and he is studying up on some programming stuff. Still raining in Germany. There are floods all over the place south of us. But we are ok. Don't have much else going on...hope everyone is well!!! very grr For some reason, when I went to livejournal.com today, it came up all in German. I have changed the language twice, but it keeps going to German. So if you can't understand what I am writing, just let me know!! And another thing about German computers, the y and z buttons are switched. So if I am tzping in normal English kezborad, this is what is looks like. So if I were going to the yoo, zou would never know, cuz this is so messed up. I really like atomicscooby's piercings. Very cool!! Congrats Laurie on setting a date, that is really cool! and Robbie is so lucky. Sounds like Kryan is having some good food in Utah. Wish I were there! I am good. Lots of rain still. Thomas is driving the big ambulance in Bayreuth today. Bayreuth is the big town about 20 minutes from our village. That is where we take 'big' trips to the Real (think Wal-Mart german style). Since gas is so expensive, we usually walk or run everywhere. Last week we filled up our car (the black panther) and it cost 41 Euros for 32 liters. (4 liters = 1 gallon)So, 5 Euros per gallon. Talk about a wake up call!!! Oh, and I am now 174 pounds. Before I left I was arounds 195. So that is cool. I think that catches me up. We are going on a mini-vacation later this week. We are going to Flensburg, which is in the most northern part of Germany. It is closer to Denmark than to Germany. We are going to visit an Uncle. He is cool. His daughters are our age, and they are fun. Looking forward to seeing them!! later gaters!! :) Current Mood: frustrated | | Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005 | | 5:49 pm |
Man, Have I been sick So much for having a great time in Germany!! Thomas and I have been really ill. I have spent the past four days in the house, so that the toilet (said just how Laurie says it! toy-let). NO fun. Thomas is all better and being fun. Today I missed a trip to Switzerland to visit Thomas' sister and pick up our new car!! Damn it, no portable Toy-lets in Germany ;) I am glad I am not the only one who read Harry Potter book 6 is under a week. It took me 4 days. AND that's only because I had to visit my sister's dog's puppies. Anyhoo, good to hear from everyone. Happy belated birthday to Ms. Kristie Mclin. Sounds like it was fun. I miss New Mexico sooo much and it looks really good in the pictures. Tiffany looks really happy and wonderful. ok, not much else is going on, I promise to post pictures of the hobbit holes for Asia, I am just trying to get better. later gaters! Germany at last! Hi all, I made to Germany on Saturday the 23rd. Although I didn't sleep a wink, I had a really nice neighbor in the seat next to me from Seattle. I also got to watch Robots, which I had wanted to see.
Bischofsgrün is sooo beautiful. Everything is green and you don't get sweaty as soon as you walk out the door. Thomas and I have gone on a couple of walks, where I got to see the town swimming pool and soccer field (two things that the winter time doesn't necessarily allow for). I also found Hobbit holes!!! We were walking around the town for his mom (who owns a tax business and we drop off paperwork for her clients) and there are four small doors built into the hill. I thought it was so cool. The road runs down the middle with sloping hillsides and these doors were hidden in both sides of the hill. The doors had moss on them and looked as if they had been there FOREVER. Thomas thinks that the doors are really from old bunkers during WWII, but I think I am right!! ha
We are beginning to paint our apartment today. Thomas has all ready finished installing the wood floor and wood ceiling, and it looks really nice!! I am excited to help with the painting. Next week we get our car in Switzerland. Another country!! Cool! We bought the car from Thomas' sister and she lives in Switzerland. I am exicited about that too!!
more later! Hi to Laurie and Robby and Congratulations!!
later gaters! Amber O :)

Wow!! My first online musing! ok, back at work for Sony Electroincs. Been here for about 2.5 months. I am working on a project for Sony/Wal-Mart. See Sony has a 'no return' policy and Wal-Mart has a very liberal return policy. Hence: there is a problem for Sony. We have all ready paid Wal-Mart a 3% defective rate for all the TVs that will be returned, however, Sony's defective rate for TVs is .5%. (For those of you who are not the math types: Sony OVER paid Wal-Mart 2.5 times the number of TVs that will actually be defective!) So, this is where I enter: what to do with all the TVs that have been returned to Wal-Mart by the customer...?!?!? Slowly but surely, I am working on it!! So, I got the invitation for my cousin's wedding this past weekend. I only remember my cousin being completly funny...hard to imagine him being married. For those of you that don't know: both of my sisters (the twins) are expecting babies later this year. Cortney's baby is due October 18. Whitney's baby is due January 6. Needless to say, I am going to be entirely too busy with cross-stitching to be able to keep up with all these babies!! :O) The count down to Germany has not begun YET!! I need to buy the plane ticket, THEN the countdown will begin. Went to horse races yesterday. I highly recommend going if you have never been. TV just doesn't catch the excitement of seeing the horsies coming down the backstretch. Bet 3 times ($2 bets--thanks mom for spotting me that cash *wink wink*) and won twice!!! That makes my winnings stand at $1.40. Whitney was quite the winner yesterday!! Every horsie she bet on, she won!! That is cool!! 'nuff for now. later gaters!! Current Mood: sleepy |
