Wow last time I checked I was a member of deviantart not a fucked up version of Microsoft Outlook that takes five times longer to load.

Anyhoo, I'm off to Menorca tomorrow and then on to a local rock fest as soon as I get back so I'll be back in about 10days.

Hare Update
Thanks for all the advice for the last post everyone C: It is very much appreciated.

I'm glad to report Powderpuff survived through night. It jumped out of its box, which I'm taking to be a good sign (?)

Seems to be able to getting some of this mush (weetabix, water and milk) down. I'm only putting a tiny amount of (cow) milk in, so I hope it'll be okay.

There is definitely something wrong with its front paw. I think it's broken, so I'll be taking it to the vet's this afternoon.

EDIT: Well he's poopin' like a trooper. No diarhoa as of yet so that mush must be going down okay for now.
Generally more active and shiny-eyed.

Pondering the awesomeness of having a pet hare. I know this is ridiculous, living in a house full of cats but one can dream..

Bad Hare Day
Today I heard a squeaking noise coming from the garage. Because the cats always bring birds in there, I thought it may be that and went to investigate/free it.
As soon as the door was open Izzy shot in carrying something that was squealing. It was a baby hare. I eventually managed to wrestle her off it, and it lay, not able to get up kicking its back legs uselessly. It was a horrible thing to see.
I then picked it up with kitchen towel and marched straight into the garage (both the cats were inside so I thought it the safest place at hand). I then sat with it twitching its whiskers and cried for a short while (whut). Hearing an animal shriek like that had a horrible affect on me, it's like how a baby in pain must sound like. It seriously rattled my nerves.
I placed it in a cardboard box with a blanket and left it to calm down. Throughtout the afternoon it's moved a little bit, but still very frightened.

Tried giving it some milk and water with a bit of weetabix which didn't work (surprisingly). Just read a page on caring for orphaned rabbits/hares and it says "Cow's milk... is not suitable and will likely cause death". I need to feed it esbilac, something I have never heard of before(?!) I don't even know how old it is, so I wouldn't know how what dosage to give it anyway.
Its front paw seems injured, but not externally(its back legs work fine).
I can't put it back in the field because a)It's pouring down, and b) it'll get caught again if it's injured.
I know its parents live in the field behind the house. Just last night a big gorgeous hare went running around outside my house.
The RSPCA are usually useless when it comes to this, I've known people who've had their cats bring baby rabbits in, they've rang them, and all they've said was 'there's nothing we can do'. Hmph. £2 a month for whut now?

My heart's breaking, if this baby dies on me I'll never forgive myself :C

It's like every feminist and evangelist christian's dream.

Too much raep for a comedy imho.

I can remember having a debate with a guy not long ago about Freud's (ugh, hate the guy) theory of penis envy, that women resent men because their penithes are essentially weapons that 'attack' women. To which I retorted that their must be some way of putting some sort of bear trap mechanism up there.
That pretty much shut him up.

Mmmmm.. classy.

I sooo badly wanted the tagline to be

Huh?
I have two hotmail addresses. One I use for all my stuff, facebook, msn messenger etc. And the most recent one I made last year, which is my public one for people to reach me about commissions, my art etc (sarah_cowan@hotmail.co.uk)

Now I check this account once every few days to check my inbox.
Today I got an email from what appears to be a member of staff from South Downs College (stated in footnote of message) whom I have never heard of nor contacted, asking me to resend some work.

I thought this odd and saw a had junk in the junk folder. Both are emails from banks (HSBC and Abbey) about my 'account' details.
I DO NOT have a bank account with either of these banks.

I think it's strange how I've never recieved messages like this on my other hotmail account. The only places I have posted my public address is on dA and my website, so it's not exactly easy to access.

It just freaks me out when things like this happen, and with no apparant explanation. The internet can be a dangerous thing.

Onion God
Legends tell of the Aztec deity known as Yxno. God of root vegetables and tubours, and later on, chocolate chicken on a stick.
Her power is said to be strongest on the first full moon of each decade, know as 'the Day of Yxno' (or 'Onion Day' to the locals). Villagers gathered as many onions as possible and a giant feast was produced. Popular Onion Day games include 'chop the onion' (during which revellers involuntarily experienced tears of extreme joy!) and 'bite the onion, before the onion bites you'.

Where I live
I always knew the village I live in was wierd (due the people- me being one) but while reading through a book on local dialect I discovered something very interesting.

"The place is remarkable for an uncanny number of unnatural deaths that occurred between 1656-1653.
Three old women were drowned as witches and other mysterious deaths included those of two beggers worried by a house dog, four stag hunters whose cuddies (donkeys) failed at a five-barred yat (gate), one person led into a pond by a will-o'-the-wisp, and four who choked eating barley
[WTF?!] Two more died in duels, the first with a frying pan and pitchforks, and the second with a jug and a three-foot stool."

Well that explains... a lot.

I bet you anything, if I was born 350 years ago I would be the guy who died at the hard wood of the three legged stool, because that's how blondly retarded I am.

But I'm really interested about how much wierd stuff has happened in this village, which I always just thought was a clump of fields with little and very boring history.

Pheasant paintings
Because I often get bored at work, wierd and wonderful art ideas usually surface during this time. At one point I thought about doing a series of portraits of a family of pheasants. So there would be a Mr Pheasant, a Mrs Pheasant, and a baby/child/chick, which would have some sickening name like Precious and a bow on its head.

Wierd. It sounded wierder explaining it to a woodwork kid who kindly cut the wood out for me (the wood left over from my fox painting). And the wood was lying in my corner in the art rooms at school so more people asked and more people had that puzzled expression and all I kept telling them was "I get really bored at work, okay!"

So. Here is a series of wood paintings I've been working on. It's been something nice to do during breaks of revision.

So here's the progress so far and the pheasant sketches in the last image plus tea.

Future.
Well I haven't been around much. I try and read how you're all doing, I just don't have time to comment.

I only realised last week that I have two weeks (thought it was four :{) until school finishes forever for me and I set off into the big wide world.

My last art exam is next week (wine labels, oh what fun). I'll post some of the prep work soon.
Then the rest start in a few weeks.

Dreading english literature as I have to memorise sixteen Emily Dickinson poems and a whole Shakespeare play. I'll have no idea what theme etc the questions will be on 'til I'm in the exam hall. I dunno how remembering texts off by heart makes you good at lit so screw them.
An annoying thing is I realised I don't even need a mark in literature as my uni only wants two Cs from me, and I'm looking at an A in art graphics and an A in media studies >:{

So basically if you think I'm being quiet it'll be because of the above. Oh and also the weather is hot hot hot at the moment so I'm making the most of it (you never know when there'll be some kind of freak 10-month-raining-period round here) plus I have discovered macro on my digicam and am now chasing bees and such round the garden.

Oh and I'm also working on a mini series of wood paintings which are about 50% done. If anyone's interested/curious/bored enough and wants to see w.i.ps and concept sketches.

Yay, just got back with a place at the uni under my belt. (The praying must've worked Windy :P)

The more I think about it, the more I would've hated it at Edinburgh. Popularity isn't everything, I should know that by now.
Instead of telling us to go away and return in two hours to collect our portfolios we left our portfolios and were given a tour of the facilities while they were being assessed.

I swear there is twice as much stuff there since when I last looked round. I don't remember there being a room full of looms last time. I'll probably never use them- but looms! They have a text tile department, film and animation department. and a room where you can rent out random junk for taking photos with, I saw ammo belts and traffic warden uniforms, wth XD

In my interview the guy told me he'd like to offer me a place there and then (usually you get told in a letter) so I was so happy. He said I was confident and well rounded in terms of the subjects I take. When I asked if he liked my 'gene simmons sheep' he just burst out laughing.
What really touched me is he said "it'll only be a few years til you're dangerous around here" wowee.

I dunno what in the heck Edinburgh were looking for but I'm sure glad I'm not going there :D

I can't believe people are still going on about this 'Orphaned Art Act' in America. This happened at the start of the month, and yet I am still getting journal updates on dA telling me my art is in srs danger!

When I first read about it I was quite shocked but then came across other journal entries explaining this happened over two years ago, never came into power, and was something to do with the use of dead artists' work. Don't hold me to that 'cos I'm not really following it (since I live in the UK).

Fair enough it would've been a very serious thing, but posting journal entries going "UR ART IZ GONNA BE STOLEN!!!" is just causing panic and nothing productive comes from that. And signing an online petition 99.9% of the time never works.

For those still worried, here a some journal entries I happened across:
http://community.livejournal.com/artists_beware/180291.html
http://ursulav.livejournal.com/758643.html

Anyways I'm off for my second uni interview. I actually get to talk to someone this time. So though I'm nervous, I'm rather looking forward to it. I could yap about art all day long quite happily :3

Heyyy..
Reaally wanna find the full version of this painting used by the band Buckcherry.

Put under cut just in case you feel it's NSFW )

I remember seeing the full thing in the back of the original video of "Crazy Bitch" but there's now, a new version of the vid with distinct lack of jawesome painting :{
It may be in the album art of the album I just ordered, but I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and ask if anyone recognises it or perhaps knows it's actual title/artist?
