more house stuff. [28 May 2008|09:52pm] [ mood | tired ] [ music | jawbreaker ] so, i FINALLY got the lawn mowed yesterday. my brother brought by my mom's mower, so i got right to work to getting my lawn mowed. i had forgotten how big my back yard is!! oh the possibilities i have with fixing it up!!! mowing the lawn was quite a task, mostly because the freakin' mower kept tossing random sticks, pine cones, what-have-you back at me. my legs are all bruised up from this. i really enjoyed mowing the lawn, though. next on the list with my yard is actually cleaning up the lawn more, then re-mowing to make it look better. THEN i'm getting to work on my flower beds. --up rooting all the flowers/plants i don't want, then getting the soil ready for new plant life. i also want to make part of my yard a garden. i think i will put that on my "to-do by the end of sumemr" list, so hopefully by fall i will have some nice fall veggies harvesting. woo wee!! i still am having issues with my plumbing. and "issues" is an understatement. my brother came by today with a "snake" (long flexible metal tube with a point at the end), and the "snake" was supposed to unclog my clog that is is the pipework between my house and the sewer. unfortunately, the "snake" got stuck in the clog. WTF!!! fortunately, my brother knows people in the "home maintenance" business-- ie: plumbers, so he called his boss, who has a plumber friend and they both were at my house when i got home today. between the three of them, they couldn't get the "snake" out of my pipe. lucky me. so now they are going to have to dig up part of my yard, find the pipe that's holding the "snake" hostage, and replace the pipe. why must things be so difficult!!?? actually, i knew this was going to happen/needed to happen. i've had major plumbing issues since about the 6th month that i've lived in this house (and i've lived here 4 years now). i've just put off getting it fixed because of how expensive it was going to be. this guy is being amazing and working a great deal out for me. (actually, he's working a trade with my brother, since he's an electrician, and i pay nothing out of pocket) BUT i'm going to do something great for my brother. not sure what yet. his girlfriend/fiance has 2 children, i offered to do portraits of them, and they would like for me to photograph their wedding when (if) they get married. i love bartering!!! 2 joined hands, who wants to win them over?.
