Now, if you know me at all (and plenty of you do), you know I'm not a prayer person. You may or may not know, though, that I'm very much a power-of-positive-thought person. Now I'm not sure how much influence all the positive thought in the world is going to have over the weather, but even so, if you could think the most positive (and by "most positive" I mean "driest") thoughts possible and send them to Bloomington for the evening, that would be super, because tonight is Opening Freaking Night, and this is what we're up against:
We've managed to avoid potential rain the last two nights for previews, so hopefully our luck will hold (at least until after intermission). Hey, it means a 20-40% chance of no rain, right? :)

I got new glasses. My prescription is slightly stronger than it was ~5 years ago, the last time I got my eyes checked. Anyway, they're super cute, though of course I wish I didn't need to wear them.

Some dude's profile on okcupid totally just made my day.
One of his pictures is of him and a male friend playing around, with the friend pretending to kiss him passionately, with the caption "kinda gay."
The next is a picture of him in an embrace with a rather voluptuous and attractive woman (and he has facial hair in only this picture; clean shaven in the others).

I swear, if I ever get put on bed rest or similar, they'll have to chain me to the bed.
Current Becka Trivia: I'm currently traipsing around my apartment in heels, because the inflexibility of the stays in my newest ankle brace means that's the only way I can walk comfortably.
Anyhoo, in case it's not obvious, I was in Chicago this weekend and just got back. I may write more later. I may not. It wasn't really exciting, just nice. And now I am very, very tired. |

Ever since I actually figured out how to make the macro mode in my camera really work (and it took me an embarrassingly long time), I've been playing with it more and more. The combination of good light and a close focus makes for a much more interesting picture, and I'm excited that I actually get to create such pictures for once. This didn't turn out quite how I originally envisioned, but when it came to lighting, I couldn't figure out what to use other than a candle. Turns out I really like the warmth it imparts, not what you'd usually expect from hardware.

It would appear the weather gods took last week's entry as some sort of invitation or challenge.
So this time, let me be clear:
FUCKING STOP IT.
Never before today have I experienced a gust of wind that actually stopped me. I guess I can be thankful, at least, that I didn't experience that gust as a crosswind, 'cause I probably would've just fallen right the hell over.
So this is why people always give me kind of a funny look when I say I like spring. I think I'm starting to learn my lesson. |

To be totally honest, I think it's completely lame that I'm posting this, but I just changed my desktop wallpaper for the first time in manymany months (actually, since I got the computer), and I'm basically smitten with the new image, and thus, I am sharing it.
(And I took the picture, in case you're wondering.)
I just love the sharpness and detail the macro brings out. If I take out that sheet of music right now and stare at it with my naked eyes, I cannot see that texture in the paper - yet it shows up so crisply in the image.
Anyway, that's all. By the way, my Canon A610 is a sweeeet little point and shoot. I definitely recommend it. |

I'm excited! I met with John today, and we worked out some details of my program. I'm starting with the Festival in May. I got to meet Vanessa, the woman who's been in the program for a while, and sort of sit in on some discussions of logistics for various decisions they're still pounding out. Obviously I have a lot to learn, and some of it's kind of scary, but it's all exciting. One of the classes I'll be taking for my Theatre electives is a graphic design course, and I'm... you guessed it, excited about that, too.
So... maybe that's why my blood pressure was absurdly high this afternoon (138/98). I'm usually around the highish end of normal (120/80), so this is really out of the ordinary. Maybe too much salty food lately? I don't know, maybe it's an anomaly, but it doesn't make me happy. |

I've biked in worse, but DAMN. It's RAINING and it's WINDY and the southbound portion of my trip home is 80% uphill. |
