Today has been amazing but my bum hurts. Can you imagine why those two things are true? NO YOU FILTHY BASTARDS! It is because I have an amazing new bike which folds up really small so I can keep it in the flat and it will not get nicked or slashed. Yay! Of course I have not ridden a bike since I was ten, apart from a brief period when I was seventeen and after five days managed to run into the back of a parked car and shin myself.

new bike!

pond

This is the park two minutes from our flat. It's basically going to be an amazing summer.

ps, people in Edinburgh, remember the Film Festival is on this month, so get tickets!

I was born with nothing

and I have nearly all of it left.

BY THE WAY I am more excited about the new B-52's [now B-52s] album than I have been about anything else this year.

A bit of a photodump on your ass, but, well, that's what we're all about, right? The peectures? And less with the talky talk.

El Ferd and I went away to stay with his familee in Cork last weekend. His parents have a mahoosive house in the country and we borrowed their car and went a bit around the Ring of Kerry, which does sound like the arsehole of Kerry but is actually an amazing drive. I know it's obvious but Ireland is so bloody green. [not in these photos, but you get the idea]

the best view Ive ever seen

I keep thinking about really old, rubbish bands lately. Royal Trux, remember them? They had that floppy heroin Kills thing going on. Shola Ama?

Anyhoo, I've got some songs for you all

Get Ready For Love - Nick Cave I've been listening to this a lot. Praise him til you forgot what you're praising him for.

It Aint What You Do - Bananama and Fun Boy Three
This song is just weird and brilliant.

Does anyone please please pleas have the Cure album Mixed Up, and could they please please upload the version of A Forest [and anything else they have time for?!?!?!] i realised I don't have this version! Boo!

You can have the excellent Earl Slick version from Join the Dots in return.

ps I am so addicted to America's Next Top Model... 'I only have three photos in my hands, and these photos [pause] represent the three girls who are still in the running toward becoming antm...'

I'm finally updating my ipod, I'm so effing sick of listening to Dreams by Fleetwood Mac and Panic by The Smiths on my way to work. I do have a good playlist for a Friday afternoon though, although I don't know how to do playlists so I just play all the songs I want in the right order.

Tom Hark - The Piranhas
You're Speaking My Language - Juliette and the Licks
Working in a Coalmine - DEVO
The Man Don't Give A Fuck - Super Furry Animals

Ja, I seem to have found a tonne of hidden gems in my itunes around June 2006, I must have just discovered limewire or something.

Watched Shoot Em Up last night, I loved loved loved it, especially the bit with the robot baby and the parachuting bit, it was ace. Also watched Death Proof, it was totally lame and talky. The car chase was great, only because I was so sick of the huge talky scenes about Viewpoint. WE GET IT! YOU LIKE FILM THEORY, but we don't, we like car chases.

pee ess, spot the deliberate lie. I could listen to Dreams until my ears fell off.

Elvis Costello said 'writing about music is like advertising perfume; it's a really stupid thing to do'. So here are my most hated TV ads this year, they're all for perfume.

'I'M A DARNCAAAA, I LOVE to dense!'

She's hot, she's goth, she's listening to Muse, she's dancing on the tables at her own party, she's wearing perfume that my Dad bought my Mum. They divorced in 1990. It's not a coincidence.

Do you too want to act like a DESPERATE HOUSEWIFE ... I mean.. sex in the ... oh nevermind it smells like a Granny's knicker drawer anyway.

Mmm the sweet smell of... oh dear I don't seem to be able to smell anything through my ravaged nose.

Unfortunately I can't find the JLo one that says 'Don't shine this Christmas, shimmer*'

But of course the two ads that really capture Christmas this year are GDH straighteners

and of course Irn Bru. I don't know if anywhere outside Scotland gets this one

I also went on a Christmas night oot with my office. We danced. )

I was in Miss Selfridge [I know!]
and they played Chromeo [I know!]

ps I like making lame food jokes, for example if I'm eating mushrooms I wiggle one on the end of my fork and say, in a mushroomy voice [which is alot like Ray Winstone] 'there's not MUSHROOM on here'. This really does endlessly entertain me. You should try it. It also works with wonton soup. Sort of.

pps only... seven months and fifteen days til My Bloody Valentine.

ppps I made a costume to go to a party yesterday after work but I have a shitty cauld so couldn't go and the costume sits on my table like a false memory syndrome.

(BW)020 copy

This is what I was doing today, pretty exciting, eh? It's a drainage isometric!

I was in York last week, avec ma famillie, so that was nice. I got lots of food, including lovely tomatoes from the garden.

How very Jamie Oliver. I also crashed an 18th birthday party, which convinced me to be more adventurous with my attire, hence I am today wearing all black and turquoise tights.

We went oot to Tigerlily on Saturday in Edinburgh, ooooh it's got a lightup dancefloor thingy hasn't it! Lovely.

From the weekend in Inverary.

Reverence - The Jesus and Mary Chain
The song I've been wanting since we got back.

PS JEEZUS CHRIST what the hell is the new Sugababes single? It's absolutely shit! I don't say that lightly... Mutya would never have let this happen. I like how they're all in separate places for most of the video. And they're only wearing one outfit. And they've got the blonde one in yellow?!?!?! ARGH!!!!

We're half moved!

The flat has no central heating! lol.
I wondered why it was so cheap.

We hired a wee van to move with, it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive around Edinburgh! So terrifying, you can't see out of the back either so it was even scarier.

I'm a bit scared, what if I turn into a nagging old woman? What if what if?

El Ferd was wandering around the flat nekkid this morning but he didn't realise that there were three chef dudes having a fag break in the yard behind the flat. We need net curtains or summat.

I dunno when I'll get online again! WOE!

I wish I didn't have so much stuff, but having stuff is fun. I with all my stuff was made of helium. And that El Ferd didn't smoke.

One webpage that always cheers me up is the Pictures from Scotland page hosted on the BBC. People send in their lovely photos from all around Scotland, the country that I love.

How long do I have to live here before I can pretend I'm Scottish? The Edinburgh accent is so vague I'm sure I'd pass for a Burgher.

In other news, packing is so depressing. I've been in this flat for three years now, the amount of stuff I have is obscene. I'd love to be a minimalist but how can I part with four pairs of tweezers, seventeen ringbinders and seven types of envelope?

NEW GIRLS ALOUD SINGLE!!!!

This aint the video though, so don't, like, look at it with your eyes. It's absolutely amazing, obv.

I could be getting some dinner with El Ferd but I'm sitting watching this on repeat. Is that so wrong?

I wish some great Architecture office would headhunt me. Or a filipino boy would sent out applications for jobs. And then do the job that I get. Not that I advocate child slavery. I'd pay him in cheese on toast.

The other thing that is amaaaazing in pop is SONG 4 MUTYA by Groove Armada.

I'm going to do a 'I used to be in a band but now I'm solo and even better than I was' mixxxx. Who should I put onit?

In other news, I really really hope Ron doesn't die in the new HP or [info]h2_the_foodie will never speak to me again. Even though it was a terrible, ill judged 'joke' to yell 'RON DIES' at lunch on Saturday. Oh dear oh dear.

What a disappointing and frustrating few days.
We STILL don't know if we have the lovely lovely flat. We won't find out until Monday.
My stupid stupid curtain shop employers are begging me to stay on, although I handed in my bloody notice and I want to LEAVE. They're emotionally blackmailing me, which is a bit bloody rich seeing as they pay a pittance.
I'm going to visit my Granny [the cliffhanger thing about her being in hospital was that she'd been prescribed Cocodamol the EVIL PILLS OF EVIL! and she'd woken with heart palpitations. She's ok though. Sort of. She's still pretty ill I think, she doesn't really tell me on the phone.] from Monday to Wednesday but will we be homeless by then? Who bloody knows?!?!?!?!?!

AAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!

Basically
PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE and if you have to make an application for a flat just WALK AWAY! It's not worth the stress. Nothing is worth this much stress.

My Granny did a real life cliffhanger!
She rang me to say my cousin faxed through the Guarantor forms [what a wee diamond] so I asked how she'd been, had the acupuncture been helping her back and leg pain.
'I've been in hospital... but.. can I ring you back later? It's free to call after 7.'

?!?!?!?!?!?

PLUS shit, it's going to rain heavily tomorrow on Indian Summer. Rain? In Glasgae? Why am i not surprised.

I got these lovely flowers from my Mum and Granny, with some chocolates too :-D

DSCF1387

It was a lovely day, the first without rain [I say that, but it rained in the evening]. Ferd and I came back to mine for some 'alone time' [you guyz, he looks so hot in that suit, I cannae wait til he has to wear one every day. SO HOT RIGHT NOW!]

DSCF1402

Then got free dinner with Ferd's parents. I say 'free', I just had to endure The Prof's jokes, which have no beginning and no end.

Thank you for all your congrats and 'you aren't an idiot' comments, everyone was highly strung yesterday. It's a tough one, but we'll make it through! To the other side! It looks alot like this side!

The dude getting an Honorary Fellowship was this old architect dude who had a hand in this building. He was pretty funny, but his final thought was for us architects;
'design buildings with love and they will be loved'.

So today I graduate as a Dip Arch.

I feel incredibly sick and emotional, I have no idea why. Well, there are many reasons, such as the fact that I'm finally leaving higher education after six years of long hard slog to which there seemed no end. This is the end! And the terrible, confusing beginning! I suppose I thought that if I just continued being an Architecture student I'd somehow become an Architect. I don't feel any more like an Architect than you do, probably. I probably need to get a job in an office now. Goddam I wish I had more self-confidence.

So yea, tis is it for education. I'm not actually doing the whole gown thing, I'm just sitting in the audience. The reason is that last time I graduated my Mum and Granny were here and we had such a nice day, I don't want to have another graduation without them being here [my Granny can't travel as she used to and my Mum's working, I didn't want her to bother getting the day off work]. Well great, now I'm crying. I'm a fucking idiot, amirite? I should stop being so scared of what's going to happen to me. I find it very hard to look more than two days ahead these days.

I thought I'd do a small personal variation of [info]brokenhut's interesting list.
I'll call mine

Why I'm not a Roman Catholic Anymore

The Long Hard Road Into Hell )

You should all write about why you have the religious beliefs that you have. It's interesting to me.

So Ireland's been smoke free for over a year, so has Scotland, Wales for about six months or something but ONLY NOW when all the poor old English have to stub out and shut up do the papers fill up with vile landlords like Tony Blows [there was a MUCH worse photo of him in the Metro but I cannae find it online] who refuses to stop smoking in his strip joint. There's some other landlord who's making his non smoking clientelle leave the pub and stand outside for 10 minutes every hour. Wow, that is soooo logical. I don't even have to have an opinion on these idiots, they really do all the stupid arguing themselves.

ps if anyone watches Hollyoaks; what did Clare say to Tom that got him taken away from Max and OB?

Major Characters [11 Jun 2006|09:33pm]
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ferdia and I have been going out since July 2006. We are made to beee for many reasons; we are both tall and thin, we both have double barrelled surnames and we both come from places that and in -ork.
He is also fucking gorgeous and lovely. Don't worry, he doesn't always wear that hat.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I met Karina [[info]nightviser] the first day I moved to Edinburgh. Robbie [[info]robin_oliver] and I used to go out; now we are friends who cook food for each other. Apart from I don't cook him food.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ali [[info]alilloyd] and I lived together for two years 2001-03 and are now friends who buy cheap books and cds for each other. Except I don't buy him cheap cds and books.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Lesta [[info]magical_tape] is my best friend, she's a very clever Part 2 architect and likes to dress like Le Corbusier and eat risotto.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My brother and Mum both live in York.

The reason my journal is Friends Only is that my ex boyfriend was a big part of my online life, we divided up the Internet; I got custody of livejournal, he got flikr.

I hope to God

I hope to God.

Each day I have a song on repeat all ALL day. Yesterday was Emerge by Fischerspooner [anyone?] Today is Orange Juice.
