Why does the sun go on shining?

No, seriously, why?

Clearly, my uterus feels that even though it no longer hoses blood on a monthly basis, I must still suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous hormones. It's got to be revenge for the Mirena. PMS has never been this bad, has it?

All shall know me, and need brain-bleach

Why am I dreaming about a sect of Buddhist monks who worship flesh eating fresh water oysters and use them to give needy people pedicures?

I'm not the one getting pedicured, but I'm right down on the ground so I have to look up to even see the skanky foot the oysters are working on...

New Seekrit Boyfriend

Tortured British Dude fetish strikes again! Does it still count if he's playing an american? I absolutrly adored Hugh Laurie as a kid, Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder (Pick a season, any season), a bit of Fry and Laurie. His singing voice, as sweet, feckless Bertie was a thing of beauty. I can only imagine it now, with that rough edge he wears as House, deep and almost on the edge of breaking. Why, Oh why do the broken ones get me every time? It's not even like I want to fix them, just watch them implode silently, or explode messily taking down innocent bystanders. Train wreck fetish??!!

Fic: Paradigm X/A, R. (BtVS)

Classic avoidance. I should be doing lots of other things. Instead my crack-addled brain comes up with this, companion piece to a sequel that I haven't even finished yet.

It puts the lotion on its skin....

Seven years working with dangerous corrosive substances. Seven years wearing latex gloves, to which I have a mild sensitivity. Seven years of all but bathing in methanol, acetonitrile and other solvents and my hands remained lily-white. Not a callus in sight and perfectly manicured, supple skinned and clean.

Now there is the chance I might have to, like, put them *inside* someone, medically, and they're all horrile and dry, hang-nailed and torn cuticled, abraided and infectious vectors.

That is all...

Streeeeeeessssssssed

See, this little vein in my forehead. It's pounding in time with my pulse. 100 times per minute. Not with the good.
Exam next Monday, not, as I thought at 2am this morning, today...
Still, next week. And a test this week and an 2000 word essay week after exam. And clinical still to do.
I left a boring, steady, moderately paid job for this, yes? (Grit teeth, do some actual study, learn something)

Also: I have a new seekrit boyfriend. Paul Bettany, in all his ginger glory. Frckles and everything. British dude, but not tortured. Or not in any role I've seen him in yet.
Still working through James Spader obsession. Follow my logic...Michael Shanks /drool/ plays Daniel Jackson /Double drool, smart and picturesque, but still nothing on teh hawt that is RDA/, no Michael Shanks movies to track down to speak of...Daniel Jackson played by James Spader in Stargate:the movie...James Spader=some fairly decent movies=James Spader obsession.
B and I did the same for Allan Rickman.
I'm heading there for Paul Bettany.

Woah!

I saw a cervix yesterday! Not mine. It was all pink and glistening and unbearably cute.
And I weighed babies and I did a tube feed on preemie with a naso-gastric tube.
I learnt a new way to fold cloth nappies for new-borns.

But, chiefly, CERVIX!!!!

The dance of assessments finished

Oral presentation of my communication skills: DONE!!!

Hours of hospital shift to be done: 32.

Hours of ante-natal classes to attend: 12.

Then I'm done, done, done for the semester. I only have to find money for next semester's books, shift house, find a laptop...

Stick a fork in me

Sat the Anatomy/Physiology exam. Used half the alotted time. I probably did a solid 80-90 out of 120. That should stick me at about 70% for the whole paper. I wish I could, like, study. I need some discipline.
Trouble is I've already proved that 60-70% is acheivable with almost no effort on my part. Why work when what I've got is getting me by.

PoA

So. Huh. Loved the Ron/Hermione/Harry stuff in here. Hermione really shining through this time. Harry practising his surly teenage boy routine.
And how much do I love what's been done with Fred and George? Gah! I can so just see Weasley twinscest. Or, you know, the two of them doing some lucky young lady /coff/ Hermione /coff/.

Came out of the theatre to find my car battery deader than the neru collar. Luckily my lovely father came and helped me put a new one in...after a fashion. There's a reason why people in my family shouldn't be allowed tools. But the car works, and I suppose that's the benchmark for all repair work.
Elegance is nice, but not absolutely necessary.

Part 2

Huh...

What is it about Gene Wilder? That frizzy hair, those sad, blue eyes. I've established that I have a type. It leans heavily toward Tortured British Dudes (Remus Lupin, Spike, Giles, Severus Snape, Colonel Braddon, Sherlock Holmes, Wesley [Lila-fucking, Justine-incarcerating, scruffulous and scared Wesley],Marcus [mmmm...Marcus beard]).
Maybe we need to extend it to plain old Tortured Dudes. A tragic past, disappointments in love, the breathtaking beauty of one who lives with pain...

I'm guessing you're getting I'm not big with the happy endings.

Also: They took away ER. In its place I get a crappy mini-series about an earthquake. This is NZ, you think you can scare us?
I skipped washing my hair for this?

Whew!

Two down. A whole slew of merits for the Communication essay, a reasonable pass on the midwifery knowledge paper. Now skills assessment and the Communication presentation.
Oh, and biting fingernails to the quick over the Qualitative Research work book and reflection.

But...my Weezy has Angel, S4, on DVD. I will go and vege and watch and drink lots and lots of margaritas. Then make her pancakes for breakfast.
