Sorry I haven't updated about my dad, things were a little crazy this week. He's okay, back home and resting. He picked up a bad infection while he was in the hospital, but it seems like it's under control. They left him in the emergancy room overnight until 2:00 pm the next day because they didn't have a bed, and didn't bother to clean him up (He had diarrea) when they did put him in a room. My mom tried to clean him up herself, and then found out it was highly infectious. Nice. She has major health problems, and she has my handicapped nephew and his pregnant mother at home. Health care in this country just gets worse and worse. I called my sister and chewed her out for not helping. She's two hours from them, I'm three thousand miles away. She acted like I was annoying her, but she did get her butt down to spend the day with mom and dad on Saturday.
Anywho, I'm looking foward to a full on girl weekend with Ewanfest! Harv just told me his parents are going out of town this weekend, so I'm sending him off to their place. I don't have much planned yet, but I must see Moulin Rouge! with the girls. I've been craving it lately, but I've held off until they get here. I haven't seen it in ages. Now if I can only get over these stupid hot flashes I've been having!

Anyone watching Alton Bown's Feasting on Asphalt? It's so based on Long Way Round. I love Alton, but I just hope he doesn't get naked!
My weekend didn't go off as I'd planned. Melinda and I had a great day at the beach and hitting the hot tub and pool Thursday. Friday morning I woke up really sick. Maybe it was the heat, I don't know, but I felt terrible. I had to call off the rest of my weekend plans with Gina. Good thing because I was even sicker on Saturday. I'm feeling much better now, and the weather here has cooled a lot.
I talked to my mom today, she called me for once, and we had a long chat. She mentioned that my dad came home sick from the hospital on Friday but that he went to work today. Later she called to say that he went to the emergancy room and they admitted him. I'm so scared, but I'm hoping it's just a flu or the heat. My mom always poo poo's me about my dad when I say he needs to stop working, but he's 72, has had three heart attacks in the past, and had heart surgery and a serious infection just in the last few weeks. Even she said she was scared today, that's what has me freaked out. But I feel helpless being 3,000 miles away. I don't want to, but I have a bad feeling about this time. I love my dad so much, and I'm sure he'll be fine, I'm just a worry wort. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

I just finished watching the extended cut of Black Hawk Down, and yes, there are extra parts with Ewan. Yay! It was well worth the $12 I spent at Costco for it even though it is the third time I've had to buy the movie. :grumble: There's only eight minutes of additional footage, but it seemed like more, and it adds to character development. I didn't have a problem with the original cut, I'd read the book, but for those of you that didn't it fleshes out the individual a bit more. Makes it easier to tell who's who. I'm such a Ridley Scott fangirl, I kept stopping the film to point out all the spectacular shots. Harvey made a comment when he saw Ewan and Orlando Bloom in a scene together that they should make out! LOL! He so gets me.
This heat is killing me! It's so hot and humid that I got sick at breakfast. At a resturant. EW! We even had some rain here, and Harvey's parents lost power yesterday. I feel like I'm back on the East Coast!
My face finally stopped peeling, so I'm looking foward to hitting the beach with Melinda on Thursday. This time I'll actually put up the umbrella and wear sunscreen. Then Gina is coming on Saturday, yay! I should be really blond by next week, since my lightens up a lot in the sun.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

I was thrilled to see all of the new pictures of Ewan working with Woody Allen that everyone has been posting. I had a squee moment when I saw the one where Ewan has his arm around Collin Farrell. Harvey had a good laugh at my reaction. LOL!
Melinda came out on Tuesday and we spent part of the day at the beach. After that I took her to my favorite Irish pub for dinner, which was superb, again. We had a blast catching up on what's been going on in our lives, and talking about our boy Ewan of course. Nothing like hanging with a girlfriend, and Melinda is one of my coolest friends, someone I can really be myself with and she gets me. I found out that her sister lives in my town, so I hope to see her, and her sisters, more often. One down side to the day, I forgot to put sunscreen on my face. I have blisters all over my nose and forehead. Stupid me. I look like Godzilla. :-(
Ewanfest will be on August 13th. Everyone is welcome to come that wants to as long as you're female and over eighteen. I have plenty of room if you want to stay for a few days. We have a pool, hot tub, the beach is minutes away, and there will be lots of drooling over Ewan. Email me if you are interested.
We're supposted to have dinner at Harvey's friends house on Sunday, but I'll have to see how bad my face looks. ;-) |

Harvey and I went to an Irish festival on Saturday, and the place was full of guys in kilts. None were nearly as cute as our Ewan, but there were some hotties. I spent way too much on jewelry, but I needed a few pieces to go with the silver claddagh bracelet that Harvey ordered from Ireland for me. I picked up earings, a necklace, and a ring that was made in Co Sligo where my grandmom was from. It was fate. The festival was a lot of fun, I chatted with everyone and they were so friendly! We saw Irish Ceili dancers, bag pipers, Harp playing, sheep hearding dogs, and shopped all day. I used to work in an Irish gift shop, so it was funny to see all of the things I already owned. The fairgrounds were beautiful, nice and shadey. The highlight for me was hearing the pipers play Amazing Grace, that one always gets me.
I told Harvey that he looked very spiffy in his new shoes and clothes I'd gotten for him for our anniversary, then noticed that his shirt was inside out. LOL! Poor guy, I live to tease him, but we had a good laugh about it.
I've been fighting a bad bout of the blues lately. I've never found a drug that helps, they just make me feel sick, so I have to just try and ride it out. All I do is want to sleep all day, so yesturday I went and bought a new set of good cookwear. Cooking has become my new hobby, I live to watch the Food Network. I still mourn the end of the Top Chef season. LOL! Anyway, I made a huge meal last night. Chicken scallopini, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and those cheesy garlic biscuits like the ones at Red Lobster (but better). The biscuits were a big hit with Harv, I had to stash the leftovers away so he didn't eat them all. Then I preped for breakfast before heading off to bed. I made French toast (using french bread) with a three berry syrup. Yum oh! I didn't have powdered sugar, so I made my own in the blender with regular sugar. I served it with some veggy sasuage, and it was wonderful. Harv was a happy man, and it will keep him away from the fast food burgers at lunch. lol! I used to hate cooking, and wasn't very good at it, but I'm learning. The plus side is that I'm feeling almost normal today. I still have to finish hanging my pot rack and then hanging lamp I made (I couldn't find one I liked ready made), but all this activity has made me feel a whole lot better. |
