I saw the picture that's my icon in the beer store, of all places. Had to snap it.
Happy Easter/equinox/Purim/weekend, everybody! |

I was reading E*'s journal this morning, and that got me thinking about fonts.
And I found this place. I'm a huge fan of Font Face, but they haven't added anything new in a while. So finding this is like Christmas.
I feel a little drunk with glee.
And p.s., thanks all for the one word comments you left. I wasn't expecting such unabashed sweetness, but you all made my day! |

Arthur C. Clarke died.
I remember the first time I saw 2001, and then 2010...just being blown away by his ability to capture something bigger than humanity. (God, gods, whatever you want to call it.) He was an awesome storyteller.
I hope he's floating around the stars somewhere. |

Post one word that you think of when you think of me. (You don't have to know me that well, we could just be LJ-friends.)

LJ apparently has this nifty new feature where you (just you, of course) can see what custom group you've filtered a particular post to. And if you click on the friends' group name, it shows you all the posts you've made to that particular group.
I like it! |

Have you all seen "Stuff White People Like"? Still deciding what I think about it. But really, anything that mocks NPR is OK in my book. |

One of my latest projects is helping to archive and preserve film at a local organization. I've only done it for a day so far, but I have to say I love it. Handling old film is a really tactile, sensory experience. (I also got to splice, which I loved.)
Plus I'm learning all sorts of interesting terms and factoids like base, emulsion, edgecodes, etc.
For those film buffs out there, here's a guide to preserving film, very easy to read and understand.
Enjoy! |

Tonight's the lunar eclipse party (and by party, I mean a bunch of astronomy nerds standing around, staring up at the sky, and drinking hot cocoa) at the Franklin Institute.
I plan on going, and I think a few other people are too. If you're local, you should come.
If you're not local, you should make your own party and let us know how it goes! |

Hey all--don't know if I can go to this, but thought I'd pass it along!
Fun-A-Day is a West Philly-based art project (with participants around the globe) that asks participants, artists and non-artists, to make art every day in January. The fourth annual Fun-A-Day Show is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2008. It will take place from 7 to 11pm at Studio 34 Yoga, 4522 Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia. If you were at last year's show, this is the same space, but it's been renovated. Check out the posts at www.artclash.com to learn about some of the amazing projects that will be exhibited at the show! Over 50 people are expected to show their work. Music and baked goods will be featured as well. |

New Yorkers, I'm sort of fascinated by Creative Pier, which seems like it uses art therapy in its workshops? They're pretty reasonable, too, so maybe I'll take one.
The tattoo is on hold for now, mostly for financial reasons. (Though I finally found the perfect image of what I want.) Once I have the job situation nailed down, I'm getting it.
I bought a small something for a friend who I think can use it. I hope she enjoys. ;) |
