Nature Boy (and Girl) [07 Jul 2008|07:07pm]

thereversedlens
- Nature Boy (and Girl) -</div>

S & J are having a little boy next month and so we took them out for their maternity shoot last weekend. Our maternity shoots are called Belly Stories and it's such an apt name because there's always a history to be told about how this baby is coming into the lives of two people, and how those lives will change, and so forth.

J & S are both very cool and down to earth, and the nature preserve in the heart of Portland seemed to suit them perfectly. So we wandered around-- yes, we do a lot of wandering on our shoots-- and played around a lot. I wanted to capture the beauty of S's growing belly but also the story of them, and I hope we accomplished that.

Oh, and stay tuned for the next installment of S & J in a few weeks; they're actually doing an Inside/Out package, so you'll get to see their new little one as well. I absolutely cannot wait to shoot that tiny little one in the arms of his daddy, tattoos and all!

Pretty as a princess [30 Jun 2008|07:38am]

thereversedlens
We had planned to do Baby A's shoot a few weeks ago, as a "true" newborn session, but there were some complications and so we did her session at the ripe old age of six weeks. It was an exciting and slightly emotional session for me-- I've known their family of four boys for quite some time, and when Baby A's mom found out that they were expecting, we all kind of held our breath and hoped. But when she was born, the shock was real for everyone. It was just too good to be true! Photographing her in all of her sweetness made for a very happy me, and hopefully for her family too! And I'll get to be seeing a lot more of her too because she'll be a Milestones baby. I can't wait to see her grow.

Senior Portrait Shoot [29 Oct 2007|01:13pm]

We just had our second senior portrait shoot and we're looking forward to a third sometime this week. Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. We're also trying to figure out a good way to handle the colors we use in these, so any advice on how to approach processing is also very much appreciated.

Amy and JP of AJ's Photography (http://www.weloveweddings.com) were kind enough to let me shadow them for a wedding they booked. They even let me get in there and mix it up a little with my camera so they could see where my eye was. I was expecting to get a few reasonable shots, but we pulled some fantastic shots out of this.

One Whole Year [22 Aug 2007|06:06am]

thereversedlens
We've been busy, living life, and so we haven't been editing as quickly as we normally do. Here's the first of what will seem like some back-to-back shoots. We shot Callie's 12-month pictures up at the International Rose Test Gardens and at the Pittock Mansion, and had quite the time chasing her around.

1:1 ratio [20 Aug 2007|12:05pm]

Em and I went out to take some promotional shots for the website and we decided to have some fun cropping them in a 1:1 ratio. That's right, kiddies: they're all squares. Comments/Constructive Criticism/Small Woodland Creatures greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking that when I get all done, I need to set up a whole mood theme out of these. At least one will become an icon. Suggestions are welcomed.

I have a lot to learn about photography, i feel i could benefit from this community and the people part of it & I guess I like social networks.
